Half-time

18-8 to Cronulla.

I hate to be so negative, but it has to be the worst Sharks-Manly game ever, more penalties and dropped ball than you'd normally see in a whole weekend.

Three penalties and a sin-bin against Stevens (one penalty was undeserved after a facial from Randall - Stevens gave it back on the next tackle to another Eagle, leading to a fight and both being sin-binned), two penalties each against Nutley and Lomu, one against Bailey and Hilder. And I reckon nearly all of them were deserved. I thought we were going to work on discipline? And McGoldrick still can't tackle! Though he did get a try with a good catch from a little kick (by Peachey I think).

To top it off, Lomu apparently has a suspected broken cheekbone after a Manly player accidentally kneed him, though the commentators said he might still get back on.

The positives are Kimmorley, who has tackled everything that's moved and shown a ton of heart, Peachey who's been good in defence and attack, and Stevens in the first 5 minutes, where he got a great flick pass away to set up Peachey's try.

We're only winning because Manly are worse... though at the rare times where we stop worrying about the referee, we play well.

The Manly player should have been sent off for that tackle on Saleh for sure, but the video ref was too gutless.

Yeah a wins a win, but it was fairly ugly. BAD DISCIPLINE is still a huge problem.
Some of the football just after half time was really great to watch, but then the wheels fell. Peach's second try was one of the best of the season. Then we tried to play Harlem Globe trotters, and we let Manly back into it, which wasn't good for my blood pressure. Good debut by Simmons, and well played McGoldrick. Great games by the Peach, and Noddy. Stevens went well again, and I thought Isemonger, and Hilder worked extra hard.

Any news on Bird?

I thought he played pretty good. He's developing each week. I just hope his injury isn't bad enough to sideline him.

He got an elbow in his throat. They said on Fox he almost swallowed his tongue, that's why he was rushed off.

I thought he had an excellent game too, except for a couple of errors.

I didn't see it, there was just a mention of it after he was carried off, and no mention of anything illegal.

On a different note, I wouldn't mind the Sharks putting a lay-by on Sam Harris for when Manly go broke, pretty damn good for a rah-rah. Which reminds me, good to see Mat Rogers back in the stands!

Just back from the game. Excellent games from Birdy, Bails, Noddy and Peach.

Birdy has a beauty!

Yes Eternal, a couple of errors but he certainly wasn't on his own in that dept.

Was it a cheap/illegal shot/tackle?

looked accidental in the tackle - bird was clutching at his throat straight after when standing at dummy half
