“But it was the ratings from two rugby league minnows that stunned rugby league executives.
Papua New Guinea’s 22-10 upset win over Fiji at Suva’s HFC Bank Stadium achieved a reach of 839,000 on free-to-air.
It outperformed the second Test between the Wallabies and South Africa in Perth in August and the second Bledisloe Cup match in Wellington.”

Yeh png are going to struggle on Aussie tv
Reach is not ratings.

You've said it yourself many times before.

They will be the lowest rated team in Australia by a wide margin.

Interestingly Olam view is that the security issue is overblown, but that the real challenge will be in developing pathways and not having it just be full of journeyman Aussies and Kiwis for the first decade.

That mirrors what most have been saying for years.

That's the question so many have been asking, why have very few League players from PNG played in the NRL? Is having their own NRL club suddenly going to change that?

LU, in particular, just absolutely hand waves this issue away.

And in fact goes to the other extreme, suggesting they will be producing the majority of the games talent in mere years. (See above)

It’s been covered as nauseum

Just bc you aren’t convinced of the reasons doesn’t mean they haven’t been discussed

*Ad nauseum

If it's so simple why haven't any rich Sydney clubs with no juniors invested in them before?

Why have the Hunters produced less NRL players than any other QCup side in history.

Most nrl clubs don’t even invest In their own catchment properly (eg Townsville Blackhawks)

Main issues with png are

1. Lack of junior pathways
2. Lack of elite coaching diet and training for juniors
3. Visa issues
4. Lack of a proper organised schools competition

They had an elite junior game a year back and there wasn’t a a single Aussie scout there
