Halfback Puzzle Dilemna

Just had a look at zerotackle to check on the status of our halfback optinos and was surprised / horrified / stunned to see that Moltzen, Miller, Chisholm and Humble are all ending their WT stints this season. In other words, if we are not quick and re-sign at last 2 of the above we could find ourselves without a halfback option yet again for 2013.

We are probably most in danger of loosing Chisholm and Miller as they seem the ones most likely not to get a shot under Sheens this year. I'd love to extend Miller, dont know anything about Chisholm and dont mind Humble or Moltzen but would not be surprised to see Moltzen test the market and go, especially if WT tank it again this year.

Who do people think we should re-sign asap, who should we wait and see how they perform, and who should go?

I think:

Miller- re-sign asap he can be the future.
Chisholm- dunno- wait and see?
Humble- wait and see, he seems hungry and wants it.
Moltzen- unfortunately his duel with Lui for the halfback spot in seasons past cruelled his first chance as Sheens preferrred Lui, and in spite of his potential maybe time has marched on, and he is no longer a specialised halfback- maybe his future is as a utility and to test the market elsewhere for 2013.

It will be Moltzen in at halfback position unless Benji moves to another club or dies.
It's hard to say what will happen with the other three, probably go to other clubs and become superstars and we will sign Orford or Finch to a 4 year deal.

Dunno about that anymore. I hope the WT board will no longer allow some of the detrimental behaviour that in the past was permitted for those with the in crowd status.

Let the 4 of them go and hunt for a specialist for 2013. Beside our props halfback is the biggest issue we have!

Jury is out on that.
Lets see if Sheens has the balls to remove the golden child's mate if he continues to show this piss weak form.
As soon as Lui got the boot, moltzen was slotted there at Benjis request and Moltzen wanted out of Dragons deal when he knew half position was open, something that wasn't on the cards at the Dragons.
Who is even ready to take the 7 tomorrow if Moltzen happened to get injured?
Got nothing, no back plan it seems.

We are supposed to be building a team around our star player but we are really failing miserably because of popularity politics.

Moltzen would be the first one I let go,Miller,Humble and Chisolm havent had a shot at half yet,but I bet all 3 would do a better job than our current 7.

But you did, didn't you. We owe Robert Lui's Lady a big thank you. Her pain (no disrespect intended) save us from a catastrophe, and ensured your season went down a slightly different course. Anybody have her addy? We would like to send flowers!!

It's the set up of the team that is not working rather than the players. sheensu has both Farah and Marshall playing the seven role on and off. Must be hard for Moltzen to know what role he has in the team.Might be a good idea for Sheens To revert to a more traditional set up. Anyway no Farah for two weeks might make things a little easier for Moltzen at seven

Move Moltzen to hooker for 2 weeks, I think it's worth a try seeing he won't get dropped and might work out.

Either we give Miller a go, and by that I mean a proper go i.e given the license to take control when needed, kick in general play etc.

Otherwise we should piss all of them off and sign a quality halfback.

Too bad the Sharkies snapped up Jeff Robson. It seems like a tradie style halfback is exactly what we need.

Move him back to halfback?

At least then he would have got a taste of what defending is like and give him practice picking up the ball off the ground.

A taste of what defending is like ? Moltzen made 19 tackles on the weekend and didn't miss any -if only some of our forwards did the same we might not have lost -clearly no one has noticed but it isn't Moltzen letting in 30 points the last couple of weeks

More the reason to put him at hooker for 2 weeks to fill the role and give someone else a crack at half.
