Hampton or Finch

So with Widdop out who would you start in his possie...

Hampton has big potential but it may be too much to ask for the rest of the season ?.

Finchy is Finchy...plays the game at car crash speed and takes risks but might be a good foil for Cronk.

For this week, I'd love to see Hampton get a run. He looked good on Monday, and can only improve with additional game time.

Keep Finchy on the bench as a utility.

From what we've seen in 2 games, Finch is looking well below NRL standard. But saying that, Bellamy will go with Finch no doubt.

Hampton is the future and should at least warrant a bench spot to get himself ready for the full time gig next season.

Have to agree...Finchy gives me no confidence. He is a bloody gutsy player but his kicking game is poor and he does not have the positional sense that Widdop brings to the role.

I would start Hampton against the likes of Wests Tigers, Parra etc to get some experience and bring Finchy on for the big ones...sounds strange but might work.

Hampton for sure and if the going gets rough you have players to protect. Bring him on what a talent.

Hampton. The kid is the future, but the future has been forced upon us early. I don't think we need to have Finch on the bench either. Hampton got absolutely flogged, and still gave a hundred percent. I can't see any punishment harder than what he took, and it's clear he can handle it. He desperately needs to slot into our spine.

Waiting makes no sense, and he should be picked on effort last game alone.

Ben has plenty of ability but no need to rush him. Finch knows cams, cooper and bills games better and is better defensively. If he struggles the next month then you call up Benny.

Hampton could do with an off season to bulk up and work on his defense. Also he is much stronger playing on the right edge, that's coopers territory so will need to work hard on his right to left passing game.

PS. Don't forget about McGahan next year. Really playing well now he's over his broken leg. A few things he has that might make Bellamy go his way ....if he re-signs.

1) much bigger physique, won't be a defensive weak link.
2) Brilliant passing game
3) left foot kicker
4) onfield general

McGahan is the future as much as Hampton...I can see both of them competing for that no 6 spot next year unless they look at McGahan as a centre or utility.

We have not seen Young Tonumaipeau yet !...look out because he will be a star of the future.

I usually tend to agree that you shouldn't rush players into 1st grade but at the same time there are few cushier positions in the league than playing 5/8 at the storm.

On a night Cronk and slater struggled ya reckon Hampton would have made a difference?

No, he wouldn't have. But was more talking about finchs performance, rather than the whole teams. Finch was terrible. He was a foot away from Benji during the second try and didn't even attempt to tackle. Extremely disappointing lack of effort.

I'll be p****ed if they play their skins out fot the next SOO.
CB is too rigid in his tactics imo (happened last year too) he knows they'll be tired, especially in those conditions so why not mix it up a bit - a bit of energy & unpredictability could go a long way. Still might not win but seriously the origin period seems to be viewed as a write-off anyway perhaps? Not saying that's accepted but we all know it happens.
The 'big three' are relied on too much, they've achieved the heights and phsycologically are they tired too?
Having said that they are class & possibly we could go back-to-back but really, if that's as hard as what it supposedly is perhaps its time to rebuild & give more time to a change in tactics.
Also, there has been more debuts this year than in the last 3 so I guess CB is building for the future but he still goes to the default position of relying on Cam, Billy & Coops.
Rambling a bit but it's got me stumped! could be just the weather, but really?

On a night where Cronk and Slater failed massively to spark anything in attack you would expect your 200+ game veteran to actually do something. Take away his pass to put Blair in a hole, I can't remember him doing anything positive for us.

We missed Smith out of dummy half more than anything tonight but getting no attack from our 2nd playmaker didn't help. We need a ball running 5/8th next to Cronk imo and Finch is not that.
