No doubt Blair is playing well at center but if Finch can't improve. Blair to 6 and Sau to center gives us a better chance of winning this year then putting Ben at 6.
Another option and one I wouldn't mind seeing is Hampton used how Keary is being brought along at South's. Finch and Blair both have the defensive game to fill in at 13
.
On a night where Cronk and Slater failed massively to spark anything in attack you would expect your 200+ game veteran to actually do something. Take away his pass to put Blair in a hole, I can't remember him doing anything positive for us.
We missed Smith out of dummy half more than anything tonight but getting no attack from our 2nd playmaker didn't help. We need a ball running 5/8th next to Cronk imo and Finch is not that.
Finch at this stage of his career isn't going to get the team going forward if were on the back foot. To expect otherwise isn't realistic.
And Cooper doesn't need a ball runner at 6, just someone who can pass at the line. There's plenty of ball/hole running options on that side in Hoffman, Blair and Slater, who I expect will spend a lot more time on the left edge.
