 Good call on Pomeray.
My point is the defence shouldn't have to. If the defending player doesn't want to get up and keep running (when in the case if they are close to the sideline, if they do they're going to be thrown over once they stand up) they should be penalised. Instead of being allowed to lay their and wimper like a coward.
I'm nearly entirely serious about Pommeroy. Did you see last year when a kick went up, he lost track of it and had absolutely no idea what to do, so he stood like a statue for a second or two, looked up, saw an opponent, and smashed him? Meanwhile the ball landed some 30 metres away and he'd given away a penalty for taking out a player way off the ball. I just think he was confused with the ball out of sight and made a tackle on instinct. The guy gives his best, but is a could couple of tackles short of a proper set.
I agree that if a defending player wants to lie around they should be penalised, but they're not, and won't be, except for this one incident.
B-Tron 3000 is exactly right that the guidelines don't even make logical sense. And these are brought out to help the referees with the apparently not clear enough rules!
I agree with POPEYE. We need a lot more of referees just calling held and getting players to play the ball. Clean up about 80% of the mess in the game if they do this more often in the tackle/ruck in lots of situations.
