the partnership of the North Sydney Oval and the North Sydney Bears, for yesterday 30 April marked 100 years since our first first grade match at the NSO [30/04/2010 v Glebe].

Working and for part of my week living in North Sydney, it saddens me to see the Oval not being used for NRL footy. I have great memories of watching games on the grass there (cricket too) I hope it is not lost to NRL forever.

Its still the best looking league ground in NSW.
I do not understand how David Gallop informed the Bears over a decade ago that NSO is no longer suitable for first grade rugby league..and yet Leichhardt Oval, WIN Stadium are considered first rate facilities..very stange on Gallops part, he really hates the Bears for some perverse reason!

Nearly everything to do with the criteria was sus. Arguably the sus-kybosh on the NSO was moot anyway considering we'd built Express Advocate. The under the table handouts to the News Ltd teams was the biggest crime.

I've been to North Sydney Oval a few times. I really liked the place with the stands and the tree and stuff. I was at the Broncos first Sydney game in 1988. I decided i liked Norths from then on.

I didnt like them so much after 96, when Norths beat us in a Semi at Lang Park.

Great oval, never watched a NRL game there though. Just played and watched the odd game of club rugby there.

Only watched 2 games there, both in 1994. Bears beat broncos then a few weeks later lost to the tigers. Great atmosphere.
