Hastings is a halfback. I know that throws a spanner in our works but he looks like an out and out, dominant, game managing halfback.
He looks exactly like that kind of a player.

He has the same body mass as Cameron Murray. Size and defensive issues are a no issue to play lock forward.Hastings is too small for 13.
Just a quick one on Hastings, was at Optus yesterday for the double header and after the Knights game he went out of his way to come over to a group of knights supporters for photos and autographs. I was lucky enough to have a very brief chat with him, what an absolute gentleman, he spent time talking with supporters around us, was actually engaging with them instead of staring blankly into the distance. He pretended to brush me because I had my tigers jersey on, then came back with a grin. He did leave with the comment ‘I’m never going back there’
On top of that, he played great and is doing at the knights exactly what we had hoped he would do for us, so great to see yesterday but a bitter pill all the same.
It's bittersweet. I'll be following the Knights in the finals because of him. A reflection of what might have been if our board hadn't detonated the club last yearJust a quick one on Hastings, was at Optus yesterday for the double header and after the Knights game he went out of his way to come over to a group of knights supporters for photos and autographs. You reckon he wouldn't have been an Improvement on Wakeham ?If Ponga misses the year the Knights are battling us for the spoon. Hastings wouldnt have changed our fortunes at all this year.

He may not have put us in the 8 but I think we do better with him then without.
Fair enough but we also had a weaker forward pack compared to this year. I also think the Hastings is a player that fans love and with the amount of baffling / moronic things this club does we could use a few more players like Hastings.better then wakeham yes, but he also played for 70% of last year and we came last
knights have just signed cogger for 3 years whos an out and out 7, watch their off season is all im saying
If Madge and Hastings were here, we would have won more games, without question. We are second in the comp for the most tackles in the opposition 20. Our problem isn’t making metres or getting into the attacking zone, it’s failing to put on scoring plays. If Ponga misses the year the Knights are battling us for the spoon. I've said it many times before, but getting rid of Madge was one of the dumbest decisions our club has ever made. It is because of this decision that I want the board and/or Pascoe to take ownership and resign.
As for Hastings, tbh I have a feeling he was a Madge man through and through, and once he got the sack it was only a matter of time before Hastings left.
That being said, playing Hastings at lock was another stupid decision by the great and powerful Sheenius. Hastings is everything we need in a 7, and not only did we have one signed to us, but one loyal to the coach, who had bought in to the game plan and had the cohones to bark orders to the team.
Anyway, I'm genuinely glad to see Hastings killing it in the 7 jersey, and Madge looks a lot happier in an assistant coach role. Can't knock two blokes improving their lives and mental health.

Consider that we lost 6 games by 6 points or less. Api and Brooks played in each of those games. We would have easily handled that margin in those games with Hastings playing halfback and organising the attack instead of carrying passengers like Doueihi or a backup five-eighth like Wakeham.
On the other hand, Hastings with Sheens was clearly a recipe for disaster though. Sheens doesn’t believe in dominant halfbacks and wanted Hastings to play out of position at lock. Although there is a trend back to ball playing locks, locks still have to make metres and defend in the middle like a regular prop. Watching the Knights this season, it’s pretty clear that Hastings is better suited to the halves.

I firmly disgaree on this. I never really rated Hastings and said as much last year when everyone was fapping over him. He has this big reputation as an 'organsing' half. What evidence is there of this? The guy waddles around the middle of the field turning forwards under him then putting up the same shit little bombs that brooks puts up on the 5th tackle. We lost 5 games last year with him in the side which we lead at some stage in the second half. Surely a good game manager gets us home in at least some of these?I disagree with Vic about Hastings.
We are going to lose more games this year without him.
Our halves this year have struggled.
That’s my evidence.
Brooksy has been disappointing, especially for his salary. I’m glad the club had a rare moment of courage with its expectations of him.
Gave me a good laugh re analogy of fakeness of 16 yr old girl updating Facebook for 4th time this yr.It’s so true re how Hastings ingratiates himself to desperate fan bases like ours.I firmly disgaree on this. Brooks has more 40/20s, forced drop outs and equal try assists as Hastings does in 6 less games.
If the evidence that we're better with him is that we won more games last year well then we won 8 games in 2021 the year before he came, which is double the amount we won with him.
My feelings is that our fan base is so starved of success or supporting a team that looks like they give a shit that the first guy who comes along with a clearly rehearsed 'i love this club' mantra is lapped up and treated like a God. You dont find it funny that hes saying the exact same things at Newie? Which he also said about Wigan? And Salford? Seriously its like a 16 year old girl updating her facebook status saying her new bf is 'the love of my life' for the 4th time this year. Its fake AF.
Thats great that the Knights are doing well. They have 6 origin players + Dom Young who is arguably the best winger in the world. Kaylyn Ponga is probably the form player in the whole comp. They should be challening for the top 4. Mid way through the year Knights fans were saying Hastings is a dud and does nothing. Their recent success is nearly entirely on the back of Ponga.
Look Im not saying the guy sucks, hes an ok first grade level player, I just dont think hes worth the constant moaning that he gets from our fans. I dont think Teddy or Moses got this ampunt and they've played/won GFs and origins. I would have been fine with keeping him purely because our other options stink, but we dont move out of the bottom 2 or 3 with him so I dont see the point in losing sleep over it.
