Very very rarely.

But sometimes if I think a team won't win will bet on the opposition.

freakin warriors cost me, this year, damn you Ivan.

I used to purely to make games more interesting where I would otherwise have zero motive to cheer anyone on.

But in the last couple of years, fantasy football has fixed that and I don't really bet at all anymore.

Too many "sure things" go wrong in the NRL(such is the nature of the salary cap) that I'm not really keen on laying my hard earned on it.

I do 'line' betting a fair bit. Moreso on the team with the handicap as they are obviously the better team, in form, etc. The set line usually takes a team's odds out to around $1.90 so you get good value for the bet.

I punt more and more for the exact reason that Johns Magic outlined - to make a game I'd otherwise not have cared about more interesting. I usually wager about $50 across the weekends games.

I've done alright, I put $50 in my account back in February and with a combination of NBA, MLB and NRL betting have not had to put more money back in, I essentially just keep betting my winnings.

Too make boring games interesting $20-$50 multi across 3-5 of the weekends games, try to atleast have a game on each day but not fussed over MNF.

$2 Multi. 4-5 legs.
At least 2 legs on league one leg on either Rugby, Soccer or AFL. Very rarely the cricket.

Depends on the game, if I have a firm view that a team will win, and say they are paying around the $1.40 to $1.60 range, multi it into another game of the same ilk to get it over $2.

Otherwise, see if the overs/unders looks good, obviously looking at the teams playing (players and past few scoring totals), refs (penalties), and what time of the day they are playing.

For both of these options you can juice it up by betting on the H1 then roll it into the H2.

For a more spec punt, sometimes I will go first tryscorers, or if I have had a few wins then have a something on if a try will be scored in the first 7 mins of a half.

I don't bet at all, but I like to encourage betting on anything there is a market for which has little relationship with the outcome of the game.

I also knew the Sharks would beat the Dragons and told friends to put money on that. The only result all season I believed I knew before the game started.

Every week I place:

* First tryscorer;
* Last Tryscorer;
* First tryscorer 2nd half;
* First tryscorer/Margin double;
* Parra by exactly X;
* Halftime/Fulltime result double;
* Scores;
* $1, 8-leg double that gets me as close to a $5000 payout as possible.

I also put the occasional bet on another game. For example, on Monday I had $28 in the account that I hadn't taken out so I put it on Coote to score more tries than Wesser. $91 return.

Already this year I've won enough to cover my entire season of bets so I'm doing ok.

i dont get line betting at all :(

Line Betting: teams will either be +/-points to even them up, like a handicap (includes extra time). So this weekend you can bet on StGeorge -9 points at $1.72 for example. There are other lines at different prices too.

So if you take Saints, you need them to win by 10 points to be paid $1.72. If it ends up that Saints win by 9, money back.

I usually do a pick the winners card and a pick the margins card for the week, as well as first try scorers and straight wins (usually these 2 are for the Friday and Monday games).
