Hayne and Slater Suspensions?

Irrelevant that it didn't connect - it was premeditated.

A deliberate action is much worse than a careless or reckless one.

Yes, there was nothing accidental about Slater's hit - he shouldn't get off because he failed to make contact with the back of a guy's head his two mates were holding down.

And though it didn't seem to connect with Hayne's head (as it seems pretty obvious Slater intended), it sure as hell connects with something. Probably the back of the neck. Which isn't kosher either.

So it is not only ok to tell refs to f**k off, but it is also ok to elbow guys in the back of the neck and lead with the knees in tackles.

They are either both suspended or both allowed to play, otherwise it is a farce.

Hayne is already on notice and carries 90 odd points, so there's no way he'll escape after being put on report.
Slater will depend on whether they charge him or not, as he also has carry over points (not sure how many though).

NSW will suffer most, because with Hayne out, much of the sting is gone with the blues most creative player missing.
Qld will still have Locky, Thurston, Smith and Inglis, with Boyd perfectly capable of covering the full back position given his form at the Dragons.

Hayne's carry over points have evaporated.

His likely charge of grade 1 striking will still see him miss a week.

lolwut. Of course it matters that it didn't connect. Danny Williams didn't get 3 months for intent alone. He got it because he knocked the other guy out. If Williams had thrown the punch and missed, he'd have barely missed a week. Same deal applies for Slater.

Yeah I thought this was pretty much common sense.
