I'll give my own Chritian perspective.

fornication

  1. sexual intercourse between people not married to each other.
Throughout the Bible beleivers were told to abstain from fornication. You also need to go back to Gods original design for sex and marriage "a man will leave his mother and father and be united to his wife" etc. Pretty common passage passed throughout the ages since Jewish times to where from what I understand, there'd be a bunch of people outside the bedroom on the wedding night to make sure the bride had stayed a virgin. Obviously alot of the OT laws have passed and were written for a specific time for a specific people but I'm not convinced myself Gods plan for 1 man and 1 woman has changed from a Biblical perspective. The fact that Jesus, Paul and the Apostles upheld this belief, I believe it still carries today.
For me and my wife, well nope we weren't virgins but both came to faith in our early 20's, we abstained not out of obligation or rules put on us but because of our own faith that we chose to follow.
For Christians nowadays, I doubt many will hold out til marriage and we're getting married much later now.
My wife and I have no qualms about what we did and it doesnt bother us whatever othet Christians decide to do or not do, we have to make our own choice.
Sorry, bit of a long rant. Probably didn't answer anything either.

Well, no, I think you did, really. Perhaps it shows that the 'no sex before marriage' was written for a particular time and place in history and that, rather than being 'God's original design', it merely reflects the morals of the day. And maybe your post shows that sexual abstinence is no longer seen as an integral part of being a Christian. Maybe there are lots of other (more important?) aspects to being a Christian.

Well, what other reputation are you talking about?
I don't even remember the quote that you quoted that I quoted that you quoted that I quoted. My views on Hayne are there for all to see - I don't need to say any more on my thoughts on his attitude and reputation.

I wish him all the best with this civil suit. I hope it gets sorted out quickly and he is able to focus on playing for the eels. If that does happen I hope he has a great year on the field and helps the eels have the successful 2018 that we all desperately want to see.

Happy New Year Ivor.

I tend to agree and disagree. Just because we Christians value it less, doesn't mean God changed, we did. I was laughed at and ridiculed for my choice but from my end, I can see why and how it has helped and grow out marriage, but again that is our choice.
But I also agree, Jesus obviously spoke out about loving our neighbours, feeding the poor and being witnesses of him and unfortunately we Christians have become judge jury and executioner walking around with planks in our eyes still.
Is Jarryd less Christian because of his mistakes, we all make them and we're all shitty at the end of the day with some good in us. I guess he learns from this and moves on and even maybe the abstinance thing might be something he decides to help his own faith but thats his own choice.

It wasn’t this movie by any chance?

You won’t see any more disappointment in a high school student’s eyes than when the teacher says “we’re watching The Mask” and this shit comes on.

you mean you'd actually prefer this shit?

Thanks Mate. Just trying to politely avoid the same series of exchanges that I had a few days ago.

Too late. I'll tell you what your position is:
1) Small Dogs are better than cats
2) Anything better than cats should be roasted and eaten with chopsticks
3) We should roast small dogs, and eat them with chopsticks.

Don't go trying to weasel out of this one.

Can’t argue with any of that.
