Fullbacks majority of the time are the ones starting your sets off kick returns, so yes wingers can get ragdolled but it doesn't as big of a deal as when your fullback does every set.

It's simple and you would have to be blind Freddy to think otherwise, he sets us going backwards at the start of every set, he never returns with any gusto his simply not big enough to get over the top of anyone. I am not saying cut him but Gutherson I believe is much more well rounded to be a good fullback, French not so much. No surprise we won 3/4 games Gutherson was at fullback, he killed it.

My point is that he will get handled on hit ups so you just have him make as few as possible. You put up with his lack of go forward because you need his attacking ability near the opposition line.

Gutherson played fullback against three shitty teams plus the Roosters. He's a solid defender and runner, and a good support player, but we need more attacking ability from our fullback.

He reminds me of Sam Tomkins, who was probably a better play than French at the same age.

In 2014 Tomkins was top 20 for tries and try assists, and top 10 for LBAs. He was a solid attacking contributor. He was only a failure because he would've been in the top 10 highest paid players.

French would be a good player in a team that has 4 quality ball carriers to bring the ball out of your red zone. I think he'll just become too much of a liability once Radradra departs.

He needs to be providing a minimum of two tries or try assists per game due to his liability at the other end to justify his spot for mine..

French is also very safe in the air or against grubbers. One of the best already, IMO. But I agree we'll need to replace Radradra like-for-like next year, at least as far as go-forward. Could that be Auva'a or Leleisiuao? I think probably, though they bring their weaknesses and risks in other areas. Maybe we can have both and Hoffman can go back to Wenty as our backup fullback? It's very exciting.

The point on that play is for them to come back on the inside.

I am completely aware of the point of the play however when it is your only move the defence can read it too easily.

As I stated last week; I'm not convinced at all about French. I'd love to see Gutherson back at centre and try Hoffman at fullback when Corey Norman recovers from injury. French back to the wing or not at all, in my opinion.
