I think $800k is good money under the cap when you have been out of the game for 2 years. Remember the $1.2m the Titans offered includes TPAs, so they are paying similar to what we wanted to.

Well it is a bit hard for us to sign anyone at present, when A) we have no board, B) are being run by a administrator, C) The NRL have not confirm our salary cap position for next year.
So we can't really blame the club, i did hear we had a offer ready to table him this week, did we tell him that? D) how much of his contract has the NRL paid? titans is owned by them.

Read between the lines. Hayne probably had no intention of returning to the Eels. This decision wouldn't have been made lightly.

Given the Eels connection you would think that it was irrelevant about points A, B and C as discussions should have been well underway even if the final details couldn't be confirmed. That the prodigal son couldn't wait a few weeks or even until the season ends to reunite with the club that he became a star in says a lot. Both about his own personality but also the club.

If the club did make the offer that is being speculated (3 years for 2.5mil) that is well under the market rate for Hayne.

His perceived value is higher. This could just be the Eels management playing it safe after all these years of stuff ups.

If the money is the same as the Titans then there are issues at the Eels that Hayne doesn't want to return to. If you are saying the money is the same then Hayne isn't a merchant like he is being made out to be from all the other forums.

Interesting how the Titans could afford him, despite being supposedly broke.
As for Hayne, just another Judas, who loyalty means SFA to.

The NRL provides a grant for each club that covers the salary cap. There is no reason the Titans, us or any other team could not afford him because they are supposedly broke

Broke maybe but as stated they can afford to put players on the field. TPAs are another matter. Players like DCE and Hayne should be able to attract TPAs. If they could sign DCE they can certainly sign Hayne.

Hayne would know of the backlash if he signed elsewhere from Eels supporters. He was willing to take that risk. Questions need to be asked of the back office or puppet masters.

I cant believe how disappointed I am with this, considering the Tits are my 2nd Team.

Looking through his social media this morning shows the majority of his fan base are livid with his decision.

He just seems to stumble for debacle to debacle at the moment.

I guess all that $$$ will be of comfort to him.

He'll sleep fine at night on a mattress and pillow full of money, good on him he is a great athlete deserves the pay day. But why string us all along, why say he signed a lifetime deal at parra etc etc? Why?

I think his fanbase has just shrunk dramatically. Hell hath no fury like an Eels fan scorned. Just ask Jamie Lyon
And I'm sure Lyon crys every night about his decision. He'll retire a premiership winning captain and legend of his club. What have we got to show for in that period.

I think if Parra and Titans had offered the same sort of money he would've chosen Parra. The money Titans are reportedly offering is a huge risk. I would take their money if I was them also.

The added bonus the Titans have is that it sounds like he is going to be allowed to play this season and the Titans are his best option to play this year and play some finals football.

To be honest I wouldn't be surprised if The Plane is not at the Titans in 2017 if he is allowed to play this season.

So you think he has signed a 3 month contract?

No, I think he will sign a long term deal, but won't see out the deal.

When players are on that kind of money under the salary cap and they no longer want to be there, very rarely are they going to want a player taking up that much of a cap.
