Hayne wants another chance at 1....

Hi all, this is my first post here and after the disappointment of yesterday, I thought this is something you guys might like to hear. No guarantees Hages will support this though...

Hayne wants another shot at fullback League Eels By Todd Balym and Darren Walton
SYDNEY, July 7 AAP
- Frustrated Parramatta star Jarryd Hayne wants the chance to reignite the Eels' fluctuating NRL season and will ask coach Michael Hagan to be moved off the wing.
On the same day as former Parramatta ace Timana Tahu declared his suspecion that the Eels' title hopes may be about to run out of steam, Hayne admitted he found it hard to inject himself in yesterday's costly 22-16 loss to Penrith.
The NSW State of Origin winger has played most of the year in the centres but said ideally he'd like another chance at fullback after excelling in that position late last year when current custodian Luke Burt was out with a knee injury.
``I don't want to be on the wing,'' Hayne told AAP after confessing to feeling almost helpless as the Eels dropped outside the top eight nine rounds shy of the playoffs.
``I couldn't do anything out there. I will have to have a talk to `Hages' and see what he can come up with to get me off the wing.
``I just have to see what happens and whatever best suits the team and whatever `Hages' wants to do every week.''
Hayne's appeal for a bigger slice of the action came as former teammate Tahu earned selection in his first Wallabies squad since converting to rugby union this year.
Tahu was a major player in the Eels' run to the preliminary finals last year but fears Parramatta could be paying the price for having too much youthful exuberance in their side.
The former Test and NSW league centre believes the younger players will find it hard maintaining the high standards required at the NRL level week to week.
``I was talking to (Parramatta halfback) Brett Finch last night and there's a few young blokes come up from Toyota Cup, I think,'' said Tahu.
``As a young bloke, you play on adrenaline, after 10 games it starts getting hard so we'll see what happens to those young blokes in a couple of weeks.''
Hayne believes the biggest problem facing the Eels is their poor starts: they've conceded first points in more than half of their games this year and have then been forced to play catch-up football.
``It's something we really, really need to fix because you just can't do it,'' said Hayne.
``We've just got to start well because that seems to be the problem as teams are getting out in front of us and we just end up chasing.''
Parramatta face South Sydney at ANZ Stadium this Saturday and Hayne says with an away trip to Manly the following week it's vital they win on the weekend.
``We have to work hard and get back because the way we're going right now is not too well and next week can really decider our season,'' he said.
``We need to win and if we don't it's really going to hurt us.''

how about Hayne shuts the f**k up and plays footy rather than worrying about the coaches job. I'm not saying that it wouldn't be or not be the right thing for the team but ffs who does he think he is. For one he has been out suspended because of his stupidity and then origin duties. He has not been around to be making dcisions where he should be playing. He did nothing in the origin and again on the weekend against the panthers. He should be worried whether he gets picked first and foremost because his form has been scratchy. I thought he held the club to ransom re his contract as to be played in the centres. Anyway he was picked to represent as a winger both for Aus and NSW.

Wakey wakey Hayne and show us what you can do on the wing before dictating anything else. f**k that sh*ts me.

Hagan will never shift Hayne back there, Burt has been poor all yr bar a few games. After the way Hayne finished the season last yr leaving him at fullback was a no brainer. But because the club made the ridiculous decision to keep Burt for another 3 yrs Hagan has his hands tied.

Get involved from the wing hayne. Tony Williams was taking hit ups in the middle of the field from the wing why can't you go in and look for it.

But would Hayne do a better job at the moment than burt? His form at the moment suggests no and until he can regain that form id leave him out on the wing or centre. Putting Hayne at fullback is not going to change the attitude of the team, which is one of the main reasons why we are 10th, its about attitude.

BURT DOES NOTHING AT FULLBACK ; anyone in the team would be a better option.

Moi Moi at fullback atleast he would run the ball up hard.

i would support the move of Inu to 1, Burt to wing (or out all together) and Hayne to centre..

Hayne isn't playing well enough to demand anything. He was very flat on the weekend and I forgot he was even in the NSW team for most of SOO3.

Whilst wing is probably not Hayne's best position, I find it amusing how he claims being on the wing denies him an opportunity to get involved in the game. Look to the other wing and you find TT make more runs than most the side. Go looking for the ball Hayne, play some good footy, then think about asking to play fullback.

Didn't anyone see Burt on Sunday, at the momet he is a liability if he is not kicking goals (Inu is as good as Luke in that area)

Currently his support play is not as good as it shopuld be, and he is suffering when the vall is in his hands as he appears unwilling to take the line on. He is playing a touch fragile and more than anyone needs a shakeup.

Unfortunatley Hagan wants to be everyone's friend and that is his downfall, KK should be in the halves somewhere despite his poor game on Sunday, Mateo is being spotted every week as there is no other aletrnative outside Finch.

Lets try Hayne at fullback and Inu kicking , we will have a choice of Grothe and Ben Smith to add to the mix shortly.

Very disappointing to read.

Hayne is playing well below the standard of wing play he set last year. He can't blame the position for that.

And from tahu's comments - what is Finch saying? We are playing crap because you can't rely on young blokes?

(I realise that's probably reading too much into it but nothing it that article would fill fans with any joy).

Wish this overpaid spoilt brat would just concentrate on playing some good footy for a change no matter what number is on his back, rather than moaning to the media, whinging to refs and touch judges.

Poor little diddums is "frustrated"... well cop one for the team buddy, and play where the coach puts you, and play with some enthusiasm. :(

If our recruitment for future seasons is apparently being held up because of money tied up in contracts, then this is one contract I'd happily consider letting go and spending the money into other positions, if Hayne came and asked for a release...
