Why? For wanting to play in a position where he can be more involved?

He's a fullback and should be played there, end of story. How you expect him to have good form when the fowards are playing like women is beyond me.

You dont need to be playing fullback to have an impact on the game. You don't need to be fed money balls on the chest putting you in the clear to be a good winger.

Yesterday he collected the ball half a dozen times in kick returns and ran the ball back like my nanna. Good players just don't do that. He's beginning to piss me off now. Pea heart.

So you want him to go into the middle 3rd and take hit-ups cause I thought that's what the forwards were for.

Ummm, dont think thats what I said. But how about he gets off his wing, heads in-field, hangs off Feleti or perhaps goes inside one of the many runs that Riddell made and SCREAMS like a banshee for the ball. Heaven forbid he should actually go looking for the ball instead of bitching that it didnt come out to his wing with enough room/time for him to do anything and therefore he needs to change positions to be of value.

What Hagan should say to Jarryd...

Jarryd's whinge said:
``I don't want to be on the wing,'' Hayne told AAP after confessing to feeling almost helpless as the Eels dropped outside the top eight nine rounds shy of the playoffs.

MH: Happy enough to do it for NSW and Australia, why not for your club side the one time you are selected there, pretty-boy? Have a tissue.

Jarryd's whinge said:
``I couldn't do anything out there. I will have to have a talk to `Hages' and see what he can come up with to get me off the wing.
MH: How about you earn your massive negotiated pay check and show us a bit of what we are paying you for? I can find a spot for you in the front row against the bunnies pack - is that off the wing enough for you?

Jarryd's whinge said:
``I just have to see what happens and whatever best suits the team and whatever `Hages' wants to do every week.''
MH: Well you showed me nothing in your first game back from a silly suspension, so how about you start doing what I want this week and actually turn up to play - without the prima donna attitude?

MH: Oh, and for speaking to the press before you spoke to me about what positions you might want or not want to play, I'm dropping you to Wenty for the week, where you can learn some humility, and Eric can come back and take your wing spot
.

That's how these arrogant upstarts would have been dealt with back in the days before too many people blew too much wind and money up their arses...

I don't know what everyone is whinging about, I think this is fantastic, we actually have someone in the team putting their hand up. I haven't seen this kind of form all year, just hope it happens on the field.

:lol::lol: I sure as hell hope you're not a Burt defender because what you listed was the job of the fullback, the job Hayne wants to do but can't because the outstanding kick returning machine of Burt stands in his way. Maybe instead of bitching about the winger not doing the fullbacks job, maybe the fullback should be do it? I guess not. So Burt remains Hayne should be playing the role of the fullback but from the wing  I think that's what you're suggesting...

Burt offers nothing Haynes speed, footwork and backup offer and Inu kicks better goals. Ideally with EVERYONE in form, the backline id love to see run out but will never happen is-

1-Hayne
2-Williams
3-Reddy
4-Inu
5-Grothe

Power and Speed to burn. Hages is too daft to ever figure it out. Tautai has done nothing spectacular either. Bring Grothe back.

emjaysee,
very nice. You dont wont Hayne to be the fullback, just to take it on his back to head in-field and play as the fullback. Well-in champ.
You people who are turning on Hayne are, I am guessing, the same who turned on Timmy Sith. Next you will go after Feleti when he does not get he job done for us. Or will it be Inu?
We all agree Hayne is having little impact on the wing and Burt is having little impact at fullback. Lets switch them to see what happens.

Damn it - you picked my irony way too quickly.
See where I come from, promotion or even change to another role is based on reward for proof of performance, not the promise of future performance.
Yes, I was insinuating that if Hayne wants so desperately to be the fullback over Burt, he should get in there and prove that he is a better choice - not promise to improve his so far lacklustre form for 2008 only once he has been moved there. And he can do some of this from the wing without playing the role of fullback - being a winger doesnt mean camping yourself on the side line and waiting for the ball.

ffs this guy has a poor attitude. "I don't want to be on the wing"..... Perhaps if he'd sucked it up, thought about the team, and played the last 4 games, his opinion may have been worth a pinch of sh*t.

I dont think I said I didnt want Hayne to be fullback - however I do want Hayne to earn his money. If that means he has to forget the number on his back and sometimes go looking to get more actively involved then so be it. Riddell was running wide lines 10-15 metres in from the sideline in the second half yesterday and Hayne was staying outside him. I would really like my clubs highly paid superstar to think.. "mmm maybe if i go looking for the ball inside Riddell, i would have a bit more space and if Krisnan comes with me the 2 of us might be able to make something out of Piggys half break."

Burt is a joke. he should be paying back whatever we're paying him because he has done NOTHING.

he'll play well if we win by 40 but do nothing in any other game other than hinder us. On a less important note his 0/2 in potential game winning conversions this year but more importantly

his support play, positional play and 5 runs a game have been done with no vigour or enthusiasm. He can get f**ked! Hayne to fullback ASAP good on u for speaking up Jarryd, hopefully the genius in charge takes notice.

Yeah, I know. It's not like we nearly snatched a draw and forced golden point because Burt was supporting Mateo and in doing so made a break, threw a nice pass and almost set up a fantastic try.

Not like that at all, is it?

I see it as Burt gettin g a perfect ball...showing no speed at all (mustve run out of steam after his 4 previous runs during the match) and heaving a pass only about 3 players in the NRL would've caught.

Face it his sh*t.He has average speed , poor anticipation and disgraceful poistional play. His career peaked at 17 and again last year...every other year his been ordinary capped off by this years disgracfulness

I think everyones missing a major point here.

How do you think Burt will feel after reading that a team mate thinks he should be playing in his position??

If Hayne really said that - then its pretty poor form to say that to a journo. I would be pretty pissed off if I was Burty.

What gives Hayne the right to demand the fullback spot? Who's the coach? And I bet Burt would of been thrilled to see the paper:roll:

hey guys dont be so ignorant, read the article again.

Journalists always put a spin on things. The real quotes from Hayne tell a different story.
