Head butt precedent...

So Jarryd Hayne and now Luke O'Donnell have both escaped any form of punishment for clear incidents of head butting.

Has this always been allowed in rugby league or is it a new rule?

Is it free reign now for players who are upset to head butt their opponents instead of punching them so they wont be disciplined?

Dave Taylor got headbutted and said himself 'I think a new rule should be that what happens in origin stays in origin'. That shows his maturity and for that he is now one of my favorite players.

If only some forum members had the same attitude and stopped complaining over f**k all.

You're missing the point of the thread mate.

Thanks for the outburst Someone, but can we get back on topic please.

Ok.

To answer your question/s. No. I think its a coinicidence that we have witnessed 2 headbutts in 2 weeks.

The juidicary have ignored the headbutts, and tbh i dont care. I would if it was Slater, but thats because im a biased son of a bitch.

Excuse me but what is the topic?

Are you a dolt?

"Has this [head butting] always been allowed in rugby league or is it a new rule?

Will be interesting to see where it all goes. 2 clear and intentional head butts, both let go. I could only imagine the carnage this weekend if someone like Hoppa was still running around.

i can't wait until someone who either a) isn't a star or b) isn't playing in an origin tries a headbutt and they get sent off and a lengthy suspension, and nobody in the judiciary gets held to account. shameful.

Thats my question. Now that there are two clear head butting incidents that have gone unpunished, has there now been a precedent set. Will offenders in the future refer to these incidents as a form of defence at the judiciary?

they should, and probably will, but unless they are a star the odds of them getting away with it are minimal. just like swearing at/around the referee is different if you're thurston.

Apart from penalties, who got disciplined for punching last night? I was shocked LOD wasn't sent; I was equally as stunned he wasn't at least binned for the mellee that followed.

Headbutt incident was a disgrace. NSW let Hayne off just so he could play Origin. Lot of good it did... they got smashed and Hayne played crap.

Pretty hard for the judiciary to nab LOD for a headbutt when they had already set the bar with Hayne

The judiciary doesn't nab anyone, the match review committee does.

The MRC are like the police, and the judiciary is the court.

In any case, the "headbutt" in origin didn't even make contact.

The only precedent the judiciary uses is: "did it happen in Underbelly". If so, then it's fine.

Wasnt even a headbutt, he just lunged his head forward towards Taylor. Maybe contacted Taylor's forearm, that's it.

By definition a headbutt has to contact the oppostion's head.
