Shannon Hegarty
Has he asked for a release? Is he going to South Sydney?
No Shannon is not going to South Sydney. He will be staying with the Roosters.

Do Roosters fans enjoy being blatently lied to by management? If it was Souths I'd be ropable.

But for the first time in a little while I am :)

Thanks Easts for giving us another good player.

I don't know the full story, so I imagine that there was a reason behind the announcement. Would it have been tampering by Souths if it had of come out earlier?

I'm more uspet with the lies that every man and his dog post about our team to be truthful. So if this was to protect Shannon then I've no problem at all.

cheers for the thanks for giving you yet another great international.

Edit: I have meged all the Hegarty topics into one

Not sure about that Pen. Hegs was contracted until the end of next year, so technically his anti-tampering deadline would have been end of June next year. According to a story on ninemsn, it seems to have been a mutual agreement between Hegs and the Roosters.

Hegarty recently became a father and Roosters chief executive Brian Canavan said the talented outside back was looking to guarantee his future.

"We couldn't give him any guarantees," Canavan said.

An integral member of the Roosters' premiership-winning side in 2002, Hegarty played for both Australia and Queensland last year.

However, he has struggled this season thanks to an ankle injury which affected his start to the season.

"Shannon is a very talented footballer and is a group leader which is the type of player we want to attract to Souths," Souths chief executive Shane Richardson said.

Its a bit of a shame, but that's life (well, that's football anyway). I hope he continues to shine at Souths (except when they play us). I really like Hegs and he'll be missed by the fans.
