So he finally stopped threatening to play for England if he doesn't get selected for NSW and/or Australia, and actually followed through?

Overrated and was kidding himself if he ever thought he'd crack the Australian side. Probably won't even be a regular for the Poms.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. England are just embarrassing themselves by selecting Heighington, even if it's only in the train on squad at the moment. He's using England as a second choice and McNamara can't or won't see it.

Would he even crack a full strength starting side when you would have Burgess, Ellis, Sinfield in front of him, at the very least.

If everyone's fit he wouldn't make the squad. Peacock, morely, Hock, Crabtree. Westwood. Wilkin all would go in front of him.

There are no problems with his selection! He is a damn good player and qualifies fairly under most sports qualifying laws!

You don't need an Australian parent to be australian!

According to the rules no.

Sadly if not for SOO neither would of wanted to play for Australia. Both have parents still overseas the only link to Australia was residency & the want to play SOO:

I have friends who were born overseas, should I tell them that they can't be Australian?

Hunts family emigrated to australia when he was 11 with his parents, he had every right to choose Australia! Uate should only be allowed to play for Fiji, but our sport is run by geniuss!

Yes, he is a good solid player, but.... the back row is the strength of English RL atm. Reed I can understand as we arent flush on decent centres but come on, look at the depth we have in the back row. I doubt he would get in.

Sh*t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is so insulting it's untrue. Yes, he qualifies to play. Fine, so do I. Doesn't mean I should be in the squad though. This is a man who has actually stated, quite clearly and in plain English, that he only put himself forward for selection because he can't get in the NSW team. He's not English, he doesn't consider himself English, he doesn't want to be English. He just wants to play test football. He's a mercenary, pure and simple. He'd play for anyone if they gave him the chance. It's an insult to even consider him for the team never mind actually pick the f*cker!

A useful addition to the England squad, though it's not one I'm entirely comfortable with.

The international selection process is a mess, but any chance that England had of establishing a 'moral high ground' in trying to give it order and sense has disappeared with the recent selections of Brough (Scotland), Carvell (Wales) and now Heighington.

Not as bad as when McNamara picked Willie Manu in one of his early squads, but it's still pretty bad.

brough has'nt played for england yet,if he gets injured before this years 4nations i doubt he ever will cos lomax will be ready for england next year.....plus the only reason brough is allowed to switch is cos of the aussies picking UATE

carvell ditched wales years ago when the eligibilty laws where worse than they are now and its a good 5 years between wales and england caps

and theres nowt wrong with heighington playing for england,he qualifies fair and square...what i think you'll find what england fans are pissed off about is

1. he's old
2. he's not better than we already have
3. england is his fall back option......

at least jack reed picked england INSTEAD of origin....heighington had picked england because he'snot good enough for origin after 5-6years of trying

I have a few as well but all were schooled over here and don't even know of the countries of birth so it's fair enough. Eg Willie Mason. Other like Jennings etc has parents born overseas but were born here. Both are fine example of Australian's not in the traditional sense.

I am just annoyed at the Kids coming over for schooling & taking the place of other players. Uate is the main one that irks me. It's wrong
