Help Get the Qualifiers on Fox

I wrote this in the other forum, but it deserves a thread of it's own.

If Sky can make a last minute decision to broadcast the qualifiers, why can't Fox make a last minute decision to show them. All they have to do is get the tapes sent over (like they do for Super League) and the matches can be shown on delay. It's hardly expensive!

Email them on feedback@foxsports.com.au

It's crucial for the credibility of the World Cup that these matches get some publicity in Australia. People need to be aware that there was genuine competition to get into this world cup.

To whom it may concern,

The Rugby League international arena is growing, and is constantly underrated from the media. However, with young Tongan team thrashing the Junior Kangaroos (Australia) 44-6, and a PNG team tieing with an Australian PM XIII 24-24. It is exciting times for the top rating sport on Australian Television (both PayTV and on Fox.) As a fan i ask this network which has supported the great game through the post Super League War years, to once again be the beacon upon which progress is made. Sky TV in Britain and NZ are both showing all the games in the World Cup, and as you know Channel 9 has the Australian rights to a few games from next years World Cup. I ask you all to please strongly consider broadcasting the games from pools B and C live, and showing the other games on delay. If this isn't possible, perhaps you can pick up replays from Sky TV and show them the next day (at the very least.)

Also, in the spirit of raising public awareness for this fantastic event, Sky TV in Britain has committed to broadcasting the European qualifiers for the World Cup, over the next month or two. Perhaps FoxSports can show replays of the games similar to how the fantastic coverage of the English Super League worked throughout the season. I would love to hear a response.

Faithfully,

But it should. If sky can do it, why can't Fox sports, where RL is their top rating sport.

Well SKY NZ is a an arm of SKY UK. FOX would have to pay for the rights to the matches, the line from UK and as I've said earlier they are no where near ready for the WC.

sent another one, this is my third one to no reply as of yet.

They are pretty bad at replying to that address. Maybe the premier media group address from the other thread is a better option? Though I haven't heard back on that one yet either.

another solution is to try setting up P2P TV with some with sky tv in NZ to broadcast the game over the net. Thats do-able. plenty ppl are now broadcasting online all major sportiing events.

sorry folks. I hate being right about this but they just don't give a flying f**k about your emails.

So how do we fix this. They wont continue to treat their customers like crap if they get some competition. All the more reason to get right behind Setanta IMO.

here is my reply

The Rugby World Cup will be broadcast by Channel Nine. With that inmind we are not broadcasting the qualifiers. The Super League matchesand Great Britain v New Zealand are both sold to us by the English Rugbyleague and hence come under a different deal. You are right, rugbyleague has been very successful for FOX SPORTS and vica versa and thatwill continue next year when we televise five LIVE games every weekend.RegardsFOX SPORTS Publicity Manager

the rugby world cup??????? we are dead!

sent a letter to the rlwc organising committee via the rlwc08 website regarding the qualifiers, just recieved a response.

Hi, I was wondering why there has not been more of an effort to showthe world cup qualifiers on pay tv here in australia? I understand thatSky Sports in the UK and NZ are showing the games, it would be greatpromotion for next years cup if we could view the games here inAustralia! Also, I have recently contacted Fox Sports regarding nextyears world cup, and from my understanding they will not be showing anygames. With channel 9 only showing the Super Pool games, how are we supposed to watch all of the other games in the cup, which I am looking forward to as much as the Super Pool.

and the reply

Thank you for you email the television contracts are still beingfinalized we hope all games are on Television on both free to air andpay.

there is still hope for the cup.
