Help with a song title?

I'm trying to figure out what the song I am thinking of is, it is absolutely killing me.

I heard it on triple M last night on Ugly Phils show just after 7pm.

It is a rock song that has an 80s feel to it. The lyrics are a bit muffled but it SOUNDED like (google is no help) the singer kept saying 'hold on baby' or 'come on baby' and may have said the phrase 'we have to hold on baby'.

The best way i can describe the singer is Bruce Springsteen or John Mccaferty style, very deep, low voice almost as if stallone is singing.

I think ive heard it before so it could be an old 80s hit.

Ugly Phil still has a career?

**UPDATE**

Mystery is solved. Ugly Phil called me (I emailed him) and told me.

Very appreciative of this, as i would never have got the answer from my own interpretation of the lyrics.

Beats so lonely - Charlie Sexton.

Really good song actually.

Haha... I hate when you can't find a bloody song you hear.
FWIW... That was Charlie's only real hit but it was a massive hit for him.
He is still touring the US and living off that one.

Haha that was my big dilemma last week.
It irked me that no matter what, i couldnt find it on my own which i normally can do. Even hummed it into soundhound.

Charlie wasnt a bad singer actually. I heard a couple of other songs out of boredom and there was some flashes of brilliance there, but i can see how he didnt have the outputto kick on beyond that song.

Great 60s ballad/Springsteen style fusion.
