LOL@ aussies thinking deans is there saviour.

im glad henry got another chance. Deans certainly doesnt deserve one yet... any monkey could coach the crusaiders sucsessfully.

hes had one go at international football already and his backline got outsmarted by eddie jones. he has nil experience outside of NZ. all hes done is win 4 super titles after taking over a very sucsessfull team and system.

IMO the race was over as soon as Gatland signed with Wales. it was only ever between Henry and Gatland. Deans didnt have a chance compared to those two.

sure deans is a good coach... but not good enough compared to henry and gatland

I have no problems with a Kiwi coach. It's an international game. It's not league which is really only decently played in Australia. Australian rugby has far less players, emphasis or recources than england or NZ. We play above our weight. Deans is the best man for the job. Pity we cant employ the Crusaders as well.

is deans the best man for the job?? he could well be... but dont use the crusaiders super record as a guide. make no mistake, hes a good young coach. and will take the all blacks one day. but there are very valid reasons why he didnt get the AB's gig.

theres question marks over his man management skills. Tana Umaga wrote in his recent book that he wasnt sad to see Deans & Mitchell get the boot.

hes got no experience outside of NZ. kiwis are very arrogant when it comes to rugby. we never open our mind to the way others play the game around the world. only just recently have we changed that attitude. our best coaches Henry, Smith, Hansen & Gatland all returned to NZ after good stints bettering themseves overseas.

Deans will be the all black coach eventually... im sure of that... but hes going to be a much, much better coach after he coaches an international side like the wallibies then while he takes them.

all the wallibies are doing by taking deans now are just breaking him in for NZ.... if i was John O'Neil i would stay well away from him.... Deans clearly see's the wallibies as a consoation prize and a stepping stone for the big job.... if i was a wallibies fan i would be insulted if he got the nod.

Not really...... we'll take him. It's a proffessional game. Everyones using it for something. If he wants to coach the All Blacks one day he's gonna need to do well in his international coaching career.......

So in effect......... if Deans wants the All Blacks then he's gotta do it with Wallaby success.

Score!!!!!

Not sure how he'll do it without a front row.

the problem is though i wouldnt want to see a good guy like deans cop a lot of flak from the aussie media etc...

the wallibies problem is there powderpuff forward pack. they need to harden up at the set-piece. Deans isnt a forward coach... he does backlines. perhaps they could bring Mitchell in to cover the forwards.

Warren Gatland would have been perfect for Australia.

Good move retaining Henry IMO. He did an incredible job 2004-2006, he screwed up trying to get the team to another level with the conditioning experiment but you can't fault him for trying, and the players seem to like him.
