When will you get it into your head that 5 million people are at risk of STARVATION and that ANYTHING that PUBLICISES this is worth doing? This is not about NZ - this is about the responsibility of humankind.
How much gnashing of teeth do you hear AFTER the event when someone like Pol Pot and his Khmer Rouge demons go wild in Cambodia and 6 million people die. Or fighting in Rwanda results in the death of 1 million.
Yet here we have it happening right under our noses AGAIN and the world is dancing their arse away at a Live * conference to "Save Africa".
Spare me.
You have not answered once to either of these questions/comments:-
* What will New Zealand NOT touring do for Zimbabwe? SFA
* What will New Zealand NOt touring do for the finances of ZCA - a fair bit, $5m spread between all the ICC countries, I'm sure Mugabe will be happy, another couple of $200K rocket launchers perhaps? Real smart. Not going to happen, NZC cannot afford the fine.
* You put out that journalists should risk their lives and cover this that and every other thing from within Zimbabwe - A: Mugabe won't issue them visas B: they put their lives at risk to publicise facts everyone already knows
* Why New Zealand should have to do this that and every other thing but England, India, Australia who are all far superior drawing cards, and have far bigger pulls in the ICC scheme of things have committed to, or completed tours of Zimbabwe. The ONLY country who has done anything is New Zealand through their government not allowing the return tour from Zimbabwe.
* Why has their been no boycotts of major note against China from Australasian sporting teams when their human rights record is appalling? Its okay to flog little old Zimbabwe, but status quo prevails, sweep it under the carpet for big powerful China?
Stop jumping to myths, New Zealand Cricket NOT touring will do SFA for the predicament of Zimbabwe, and find a solution. Calling Martin Snedden isn't going to help you, he has no bargaining power. About the only ones with any pull could possibly be an African leaders association against the repression happening in Zimbabwe, George W or Tony Blair.
There you are criticising a bunch of musicians who gave their time and proceeds to help Africa because you infer it is irrelevant and futile with your comment "Spare me", but you really believe that New Zealand not sending a team would make any positive and beneficial impacts? Spare me mate. Get some factuality and truth into your comments rather than emotive paranoia. Find a solution, not a sporting scapegoat.
