I like our home ground and wish for nothing more than a fes simple upgrades.

One of which is steeper and higher hills. The four hills on either side of the stands are pathetic (beer hill and the hill I stand on, directly opposite beer hill). They need to put some more dirt there, make em higher and steeper for better visibility across the whole ground. I dont know how the CSSC put up with that speaker directly in the way of most sight lines. Where I stand, you basically cant see most of the south western quadrant of the ground. Not good enough when you pay good money to get in.

They need more bars too. And better food. The Kebabs are PATHETIC.

And while they're at it they might consider providing us with a decent football side

Doesn't look much higher than the present backboard. Rather see it go up near the height of the Leagues Club. Much steeper than our older style side stands. The new one at Newcastle is pretty impressive.

What is the go with those concrete walls on either side. Look just like the RTA ones beside our freeways. Hope this stand is built the entire width of the ground and is built so that it can be wrapped around to our other stands in the future. I don't want our ground looking like Brookvale Oval with that add in corner stand.

It looks like a pretty basic artists impression to me, I hope the board gets a model done for people to look at and offer up any objections, complaints first. Surely that would be part of the building approval process ?

I love the idea of the new stand and love that the board have got grant money to do it, a feather in their cap no question. it'll go a little way to make up for their past IMO :) cant give em too much praise yet :)

Nothing will happen to them, there is a proposal to build better gym/admin facilities, but as far as I'm aware Endeavour 2 & 3 will remain.

Thats right.

There grant specifies the upgrade is for "Toyota".

Blackcats ground remains as is.

The shark attack magazine I received has a picture of the proposed 'Sutherland Shire Centre of Football Excellence.' It looks pretty good and on the site of the present Cronulla/Caringbah facility.

The club has made a funding application to the NSW Government for the 1.8mil.

The new stand is described thus: Architecturally the building comprises four elements, including a 'dorsal' wall, which is slightly concave in plan and elevation to provide optical interest along the long facade, stadium seating designed to maximise views of the playing area, a protection screen at the rear of the stand provides wind protection from the south and provides a frame which future advertising could be placed and service pods at either end of the stand contain toilets, storage and bar areas. They are clad in translucent polycarbonate.

At the ground level, the function space is accessible from ramps at each end the the stand, with access also available from Captain Cook Drive. The function space is divided into two sections providing an internal and external space. The provision of an external space responds to recent statutory requirements in relation to smoking, while disabled access is to be provided by ramps and a lift located in the south west corner of the grandstand.

The Sharks are not allowed to do anything to the playing fields to the west of Toyota Park.

Sutherland Council will not change the zoning on this land.

Is the stand actually being extended?

According to Shark Attack mag ET stand is to be upgraded with balustrades to comply with the Building code of Aust (whatever that means/any engineers out there/Millers?) a new lift to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act and a new disabled toilet on level 1 of the ET stand.

There will also be a reconfiguration of change room within the ET stand to create new facilities, a new service bridge across the western drainage channel, new media and broadcast facilities, improved fencing around the field of play and two new sports light towers on the eastern side of the park. A new substation and submains will be installed to provide adequate power to Toyota Park.

So League XIII it appears we will get the new stand along the southern boundary as previously described in this thread and the ET stand is to get an upgrade internally with no obvious works.
