Just been diagnosed with an inguinal hernia...bloody sore.

Any ideas on how I can manage it before getting it operated on.

Cheers

Dam.. ouch.. but if this helps.. I have a mate who had one.. he had it operated on and he's back lifting more then ever.

He says wear soft clothing.. tracksuits and such.. as opposed to jeans or such.

Cheers Simo...can't bloody move at the moment.

Seeing a specialist this week to get it sorted out.

Need that surgery quick.

Faaarrrk that's not cool EP. If it keeps going out and in you can do some serious damage to your stomach.

Get it seen to bro

Got it seen to straight away. Doctor said it was fine to carry on with. He just said if it strangulates get to hospital straight away and that I'd know about it if it did (apparently pretty painful).

I wouldn't risk it

If this was directed at me, I would rather not have surgery if I don't need it. My hernia is perfectly fine, as with a lot of people who get "sports hernias". Obviously if it is affecting your day-to-day life I'd get it sorted out. I will sort mine out eventually but I need a good offseason before I give footy one last crack, not an offseason of sitting on the couch unable to do anything.

It hurts even more after the surgery. Six weeks recovery but don't know about lifting heavy things. Surgeon will direct you.

I had a triple about 4 years back and was out of cricket for about 2 months although the surgeon said 12/13 weeks

I got over it pretty quick

I tore my groin earlier in the year playing touch footy and had it reconstructed about 3 months ago I also had a sportsman’s hernia repair in the same op (apparently they are related).

Over the last few days my groin and lower abdomen where the hernia repair was operated on have been hurting like a bitch much much worse than when I originally tore the groin, it’s a constant stabbing pain in both the groin and hernia repair. When ever I try to get around the pain leaves me crouched over in pain. Going up stairs is a killer.

I'm hoping that I haven’t re injured the groin as I haven’t really done anything physical since the surgery.
