Answer to the question - Johns, then daylight. Insert N Hindmarsh before you even comtempate Lockyer.

In Lokyer's defence for Sautrday night - I rekon the best 5/8 A Johns ever had was M Johns. Matty knew his play, and cmoplimented it. With Joey you can't play a trad 5/8, because Joey's play assumes that role anyway. With matt Johns, they could distribute the ball from winger to winger in 2 passes. That's Joey's style of play, being in charge of the attack 10m either side of him. Lockyer, likewise, needs ballin hand, and control of his workspace. Johns gives him the ball, but not the authority.Once Joey has dictated where lokyer gets the ball, Lockyer can only continue in that vein, because teams with Johns in them assemmble the strike players out in the centres. compared to someone likeLanger, who had the strike players amassed in twos, either side of him withing a short pass of grubber. So there was plenty of room for a 5/8 to take over a bit wider when Langer needed him to.

Phil Gould nutted this out a few years ago when Shaun Timins was made 5/8. Timmo has the organisational skills of a gnat, but can hit hard. Likewise, the Knights win their last comp with Sean Rudder at 5/8. In cunclusion, you either have a workaholic toiler at 5/8, or someone called 'Sean/Shaun"

With Joey you don't need a 5/8. Threfore you can have an extra forward, or a slower player, like Gower.

Converseley, with Lockyer you need a siamese twin who can defend well. Lockyer wuould go well in Union - there you can have 2 extra players to cover for your crap defence.

not happening sorry. ;-)
This debate has been done 1032423487 times.
I dont want to do it for a 1032423488th time.

For the record...Johns is a better player than Lockyer.

Not gonna happen, I'm done with the whole debate, no point in it. Lockyer could have outplayed every player on the field last night and it still wouldn't have saved him from copping sh*t. I'll just leave the Lockyer bashers to have their little bitch sessions while they drool over "you know who" despite him having a poor game aswell, and an even poorer defensive game.

Utterly stupid statement. When was the last time Lockyer DID outplay everyone on the field?

Just because he wears a broncos jumper and is liked by a crusty old fossil that coaches the side doesn't mean he is the messiah.

Rather than rhetoric, why don't you actually back your crap up with some factual argument?

Because there is no point. It doesn't matter what I say, or what games I list where Lockyer was the best on ground, it wont matter will it?

People will continue to bash Lockyer no matter what, so tell me whats the point in debating it? Are we suppose to debate it with you guys so you can feel good and bash Lockyer some more? Sorry, but Kiwi don't play that anymore. Continue on your little bash sessions with people that agree with you.

The most successful halves combos are always players who are used to playing with each other which is why Daley/Stuart were so dominant at all levels. They knew each others game so well.

Translation:

I've ran out of things to say because my credibility took a thorough pummeling over the last two years when I was making ridiculous statements like "Lockyer's the best player in the world" and "Johns goes missing in big matches :)lol:)".

This debat IS very old though, the same old sh*t gets said over and over again.

You have a dig at me for saying pretty much what you then go on to agree with

I'd agree with most of that, they're both going to have to alter their styles a bit if they want to work as a combo.

I just like having a dig at you dude, sorry :p. I know I shouldn't enter into a battle of wits with someone who's unarmed, but sometimes it's kind've funny.

I just think it's interesting that when the tables were turned - in some peoples minds - you all (You, Waynebennet'sassistantcoach-droid, Charles, Kaz, PWA and his alter-egos, Lockyno1 etc etc) wouldn't hold back on Johns being passed it and the like. You gotta expect us to give it back ;-).

Obviously comparing the two players can be difficult.. because of their different positions..

But what we CAN compare are their abilities. Both Lockyer and Johns are the dominant playmakers in their respective teams so both have the majority of the ball.

So what we then go on is comparing their specific abilities, thus eliminating any people arguing you can't compare them.

Compare (as some of you have already) their:

Creativity

Passing game

Kicking game

Ball running ability

Defence

General Playmaking ability

and such and such

I'm lacking in wit, all the "you know who" brigade have is "you know who", you have nothing else, which is probably why you guys have to try and bring him up at every chance. And don't try and say it's just having a dig, payback for earlier in the year ect, it's because you have nothing else to hold on too. If anyone is lacking in with it's the "you know who" brigade who repeat the same sh*t over and over.

And you guys have been giving it for the last how many years? Unfortunately because you guys got a little bit of a taste of your own medicine earlier in the year you now feel the need to be more vocal and to go on and on and on like you've been wronged in some way.

Well it's gotten old, did so a long time ago, so enjoy debating it with people who stroke your egos and agree with you or those stupid enough argue it with you and go around and around in cirles with the same debate over and over again.

I really am stunned that Lyzor is yet to make an appearance on the matter.
