Farah apparently signed a 4 year deal worth $3.5 million so that equates to $875k a year
That is including 3rd party deals, also loyalty reductions come into play,so his nominal salary cap figure would be well below the $875k.

MASSIVE LOLZ at nuffies on LU speculating about how much players get paid when most of them couldn't even tell you what the salary cap was worth.

Fact is, with back-ended contracts, third party deals, rep bonuses and salary cap concessions, it's very hard to estimate the value of a players income, particularly as they are guarded with such secrecy and the reports in the press are way off.

What can be objectively measured is that not one NRL player appeared in this list.

You will also find that the highest paid at each club is remarkably similar at around 750/850 base wage.

Are we talking base salary or 3rd party deals and salary cap allowances such as veteran player allowance (8 years) and marquee player allowance included?

Look how much the cap will go up with the new rights deal:

2013 - $5.85M
2014 - $6.3M
2015 - $6.55M
2016 - $6.8M
2017 - $7M

Mundine has said on a number of occasions that he was the highest paid player. That being the case ,is there any wonder the Dragons couldn't win a comp?

What would your opinion be if Cronulla signed him? They seem unable to sign players from anywhere else....

He is a great player but not with about 6th of the cap mate. Paying massive $ for 1 player is a huge risk IMO.

To answer your question, I would love him in sharks colours but wouldn't pay over about $550k.

$550k isn't what it used to be, look at how much the cap has/is going up. Farah is worth whatever we are paying him TO US.

Btw I don't know what your paying Ayshford this year, but trust me, it will be too much.

Number 50 earned $1.3 million.

SBW may have earned more than that last year including his fight purse, Japanese rugby, third-party deals, sponsorship and Easts wages.

But he is a Kiwi, so he was never going to appear on that list...

I would estimate around $1.5 million though for last year???

Agree on Ayshford, I have no excitement about him. Would've about 2 years ago though.

Yep, 550k is completely different these days and many forget that.

As a percentage of the cap, 750k is 12% in 2014

and that was equivalent to ~520k in 2012

There was another article (that I couldn't find a link to) that listed the top 100. No NRL players in that either and only one AFL player. My original point that it's very difficult to estimate an athletes income stands. And in most cases the general bod largely overestimates it based on crap printed in the papers.

Of course this is probably as reliable as rhythm method so take it with a grain of salt

500k for DCE seems like a bargain. Less money than Foran. As for Fifita (370k) I reckon he'll do a whole heap better than that next year. 800k for Hopoate? Parra must be mad. Maybe if he was a half back.

Considering they are "reported values" and the reported values are always wrong, you can say that report is full of shit. Also, it's not a list of highest paid players. It's sort of a spread across all pay scales. Weird.
