Steve Price has won lasting recognition for his efforts with the Bulldogs in 2004 with his selection among the top five players of the year in the 2004 Official Rugby League Annual.

Price was denied the opportunity to captain the Bulldogs to victory in the grand final by the knee injury he suffered in a preliminary final against Penrith, but his efforts in leading the Bulldogs to the decider have not gone unnoticed.

Price steered the Bulldogs through deeply troubled waters early in the season and was consistently among his team's best performers as they made their play for premiership honours.

Price's front-row partner Mark O'Meley has also won a place in the top five, as selected by Rugby League Annual editor, David Middleton.

Others to be named among the five were Newcastle hooker Danny Buderus, Parramatta’s Nathan Hindmarsh and Brisbane, Queensland and Australian skipper Darren Lockyer.

The 2004 Official Rugby League Annual is a must for every serious fan of the game and is on sale in newsagents from Friday 17 December, 2004. RRP: $16.95.

Hindy

Like him or loathe him, you've got to admit Steve Price is a quality player and deserves to be there.

Plus I always admired his integrity.

I for one am happy he got out of that hellhole at Canterbury.

Yes. I think that, although Steve Price may have captained the Scum, he is a man of integrity and honour, and a great player.

I respect that man quite a fair bit. I sort of lost a tad in the semi against the Cowboys where he took someone's head off, but as a whole, he is a player and a man with a lot of honour in my opinion.
