The judges were:

RLW editor Martin Lenehan
Former editors Tony Durkin and Norman Tasker
League historian David Middleton
Former NSW and Test player Mark Geyer
Veteran journalist Tony Adams

There are a lot of players in the towards the top of the list who were dominant in the late 80's and early 90's which I think is a bit biased.

By the way. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Enough said, what a joke of an order and judges. Not a real barometer.

Yeah its a joke Thurston and cam smith shouldn't be anywhere near that list. dont get me wrong i like the way they play but cameron smith and thurston only started playing well about 3 years ago. thats hardly enough time to rate them so highly. when i went to the centenary of rugby league site and they list the top 100 players of all time i couldn't believe they chose to include those 2 as well. i think a dally m is guaranteed entry...

Poor forwards; we value them so lightly. Clyde was the highest ranked forward and only came in at ten. He was also a lock, which in this day and age is just a bulky 5/8.

It also seems stupid to not include a winger. Particularly considering one of the greatest wingers of all time was playing in that era. Oh yeah, maybe it's because ET played winger for state and test level. Maybe we don't need specialist wingers any more.

Engineer, as a Parra fan putting Cliff Lyons ahead of Brett Kenny, please be careful you don't get struck by lightning on the way home today.

Just an opinion

They were pretty level at the end of their careers. Even though he played for Manly, I have to admit Lyons was a great ballplayer. Also, I spent less than 5 minutes on it. If I had the time I would have thought it over a bit more and players may have changed positions.

And I would have had Rod Wishart in my top 30 but I wanted to use the players they had used to show the order was way off.
