Did they really throw many wild passes in their own territory?
How bad defensively were the Broncos? I thought that they just couldn't match us because we tired the forwards out. They were in that game until just before halftime. I we were playing one out for 5 and kick, they would have been in front at the half and probably would have squeezed home against us.
The way to beat Manly is to get a runner from wide to head back towards the posts on the angle. Tahu and Ben Smith should be running that angle all day if we get to play them. When they slide the angled runner can do two things:
1) hold up the inside sliding defenders and create room on the outside; or
2) force the outside defenders to change direction and create a hole to run through.
Melbourne are beaten by long kicks and big chases. Pin them into the corners and pressure the outside backs when they go wide. They are susceptible to 2nd man play but by that I mean offloads and not rehersed plays.
North Queensland are weak if you attack the fringes of the ruck especially with passes before the line or run arounds. Target the halves on the fringes.
And NZ are the same as the Broncos. Offloads and passing before the line will stop the forwards from being able to dominate. Don't go wide to early but rather turn the forwards around with switches of the point of attack. Bodies in motion is very effective.
