Hodgson a 5/8th

I have come to the concludsion that Hodgson is another Lockyer, a good fullback but has the capability to be a top notch 5/8th

he has good vision, good passing and pretty neat kicking, you blokes are struggling for a 5/8th without Benji, is there any reason why he hasnt been tryed there? When he was at fist receiver in the raiders game you blokes looked alot better

IMHO your team should be trying to sign Tony or Peachey, play them at fullback, move Marshall to centre and play Hodgson at 5/8th

Any thoughts

P.S lets not turn this thread into a tiger v raider thread, there enough of those already

They've tried just about everyone else at 5/8, why not Hodgo? He'd have to be better than Buettner, at any rate

i have been thinking about this.

i would only have him there now, because we have our two 5/8's injured.

but that begs the question of our new fullback.

could/would greally handle it ?

R69, marshall can play fullback as well.

so if this move occured, i wouldnt want peachy or tony.

however, if marshall was fit i would have it at 5/8.

I think it would definatly be worth a go in a trial or if you blokes end up being bundled out of the race for the 8, Marshall at fullback would be an interesting one

There is strong arguments for this to happen, and this not to happen.

I mean in the against it - why would we want to move the most safest fullback weve had in a long time, and best ball returner weve had in a long time out of his position. - Not to mention one of the form players of the NRL (Bar 2 games).

Then theres the for it, that we do look very good when hes up in the line.

My answer would be in defence have him at fullback and attack move him into the five eigth role - Get the best of both worlds.

sorry mate but he has made 52 tackles and missed 25, hardly what id call safe but he is one of the best fullbacks running around

but remember Lockyer was considered the best fullback possibly ever and he has been moved and what a master stroke its been

i think he ment under the high ball, a lot of those tackles he has missed have been a no win situation anyway, he has saved plenty of trys so far for us this year, the best buy the tigers have made since the JV.......

I think he made his debut at halfback, then moved to five-eight. The moved him onto the wing and then back to fullback to protect him because of his size.

I think Lockyer is a better ball handler than Hodgo.

Hodgo is a fine ball/gap runner. I think in attack he's still most potent at fullback, getting the football when he chime into the backline and the opposition defence is staggered.

He played halfback for the Magpies in '98 or '99. I remember he demanded Tommy to play him there, and if I remember correctly, he was a standout for the Maggies.

Can't say I'd be unhappy with a Hodgo, Prince halves combo, with Benji at fullback. Actually, that could be bloody good.

Does anyone else remember the last time Hodgo played "5/8th" for the WT?

He played second reciever and was awesome there!

I think we won 50-4..... but whose counting?

I'd be all for it. As long as Greally was the fullback in his place. (No point talking about Marshall, he's out for the year)
