Firstly I would like to say that that was the best team Parra performance that I have seen since we beat Melbourne last year. I almost had tears in my eyes watching the boys do a number on the Warriors. How good was that? A team that is so well drilled in all the little things, from playing the ball emphatically and with speed, to chasing dropped ball with commitment, to moving up at speed as one in defense, e.t.c.
But just an observation. After watching Casey Maguire play so brilliantly at hooker with the quality of service that he provides and the direction he gives the team, which is better than anyone else that we have in the team, I believe that he should play the whole 80 mins.
This is not a slight on MK, who played well in the time that he was on the field, it is just that CM played so freaking well why take him off. And by doing this it would allow us the benefit of adding another gorilla onto the bench like Carl Webb, giving us an awesomely powerful rotating pack. We do not need two hookers in this team.
Oh while I am at it, our men out wide, though I can't fault them on effort, are very average to say the least. We definitely need some changes in this area for sure if we don't want a repeat of the last twenty minutes of the weekend's game to become a trend.
So in closing my eventual team barring injury and form would be -
1. Hayne
2. Burt
3. Reddy
4. Whatuira
5. Filiga
6. Mortimer/Maitua
7. Robson
8. Mannah
9. Maguire
10. Allgood
11. Hindmarsh
12. Lasalo
13. Horo
14. Smith
15. Moimoi
16 Shackelton
17. Webb
Note: On Maitua, if he comes back and his form is deserving of a place in the team and if Morts form has not improved much I would play him at 6. For what Morts brings to the team at present(catch & pass), I think a creative player as good as Maitua would do it on his ear, and defensively the opposition teams would not be spotting him as much as they do Morts. If Maitua doesn't regain quality form, then I would go with Humble, if he ever reappears again that is.
Thoughts.
