On another forum someone has just posted WT are looking to unload Lawrence for 2010 money to sign Sam Burgess from ESL. WTF? Hope not true. Unless Lawrence himself has had enough and wants out, this would be ridiculous.

Too right. I hope / trust / pray it is just a rumour. It would be a nightmare letting him go when we have in the interim signed such notables as Mitch Brown, Geoff Daniella etc. Christ, ditch them if you have to WT not Lawrence.

I wouldnt be at all surprised.

They set the precendent with releasing Fulton a year early on "loan" to play in the UK, All things considered I would rather a good prop than Lawrence at the club, but he is a talent.

I have heard we are currently close to 400K under the cap for 2010. Why would we even need to let him go?

I don't want to see him go. He is a superstar. He would leave us and play for NSW next season no doubt. Australia maybe too. But I do want Burgess pretty badly and there aren't many other players that would release that sort of funds from our cap AND have interested parties elsewhere.

Still. I'm 50/50 on it as an idea and I doubt it will happen.

I am starting to believe we are a shot at Burgess though, though now there are the Laffranchi rumours.

What are the Laffranchi rumours?

Apparently some notoriously accurate caller who calls himself 1/4 Chicken and Chips contacted a Sydney sports radio station to inform them that it would soon become apparent that Laffranchi was returning to the Tigers. Sounds like a farce but the guy evidently has a history of extremely early and accurate tips.
