Hope this doesnt happen in the finals

There were two tries last night, one to the Roosters and one to the Storm, where the player putting the ball down clearly bounced the ball. Yet because they slow it down so much there is always a frame where it looks like the players hands are on the ball putting it down but in reality it is just an illusion. It is a part of the game that really irks me and I just cant understand why they never take the real motion speed replay into account and also realise that a ball cant bounce like a tennis ball if it is put down properly with downward pressure.

I just hope that a semi or worse a GF isn't decided on one of these calls

I thought Leilua's put down was ok, not sure about the other one you're talking about.

I said it before in another thread and I will say it again:

In the year 2011 when computer power available to us has left Murphys law in the dust there is no excuse for not being able to fully render an image for the benefit of a video referee.
In the late 90's and early part of the millenium it was an excuse and you only seen it used at Wimbledon etc and even then only for the highlights reels because it took 5 minutes to render so many seconds of video.
Well it's 11 years on from that shit and we can now harness 3.0ghz quad core processors with 32gigs of ram and terabytes worth of HDD IN LAPTOP FORMAT ALONE.
A tower config could house much more.

Make it happen NRL.

the other one was Beau Champions...no way he grounded the ball.

It seems as though as long as they get a shot with the hand near the ball they give the try BOD

Did you watch last years finals or Grand final??

It can be pretty much GUARANTEED that the refs will f**k up and decide the finals.

You said last years grand final, Dragons were in the grand final.
You mentioned that the refs will f**k up and decide the finals. Sounds like it to me.

I said Finals and Grand final.
There were ref f**k ups in the Semis, the prelims, and the Grand Final.

Stop being so f**king touchy about the grand final.
Yes there were ref farkups in the grand final that favoured the dragons.

With correct refereeing in last years finals we wouldn't have had 20 mins of golden point in week 1, the panthers would have lost by less to us in week 2 (I recall some stupid tries awarded to us when the game was in the bag), the tigers would have had a chance to win the prelim against the dragons after the kneeing incident and the grand final would have had roosters up by 8 or 10 to nil at half time (take away gasnier and Anasta tries, add roosters try denied off "forward" pass later shown by an aerial shot to be backwards)

Can't say those necessarily changed the results, but they certainly denied us fair and closer contests.

The slow motion cam they use on Fox Sports (don't know if it's ever on NRL but definitely on NYC) is usually crystal clear - why can't we use that?

A good team will overcome a bad referee. There will always be bad decisions but there are very few that literally decide a game.

Whoever wins the Grand Final will of course do it with the favour of the referees according to most of the 15 other clubs.

Not to stir shit, but if refereeing was 100% correct in week 1 do the Roosters even go past week one?

We would have got a penalty shot in front to win the game. If Luke got a penalty this year because it was bad enough to be on report then that was too.

You are right, the Roosters should have been penalised for breaking the scrum early after JWH knocked on after that brilliant legal hit by Dwyer ;-)

The monitors and recordings at the VR disposition are actually HD quality. Bill Hollywood said so himself!
