Nothing to it. Hornby isn't the first player who's position is safe in the team to miss pre season trials. If he has a niggle, why risk it further?

Trials are more about testing and trying new combos, see if and how the new guys fit in to the team.

With Hornby out of action for the trials & Fien involved in the All-Stars game, who do you think will play halfback against the Bulldogs ? It would make sense to leave Kyle Stanley at fullback to give him playing time in that position, but our options for #7 are very limited. On the flip side, there are quite a few guys who could fill in at fullback - Cummins, Goodwin & Kemp.

Yea here we go again. Hornby is injured, no surgery, carry the injury right through the season, play way below his best, miss some games because the injury needs a rest.

Kyle should be the obvious replacement however, he has been chosen to be fullback this year and needs as much match practice as possible.

My suggestion, start king at half for the trials and swap him and Soward around during the match. If this is not successful, back to sqare one:
1. Kemp, Goodwin or Cummins
6. Kyle
7. Soward
9. King
Bench. Fien
