I've noticed things are a little quiet here on the mafia front of late, so if the interest isn't there to run this right now or if I don't get sufficient numbers, I may hold off until people are a little less burned out on mafia.
Nestled in the pine forested mountains of some idyllic US state, the village of Miser's Falls is just like any other quaint American small town. Families go to Church on a Sunday, kids play little league out at Brewer's Field on Saturday afternoons, and people largely live unremarkable lives.
Cadet reporter Paul Jotter certainly didn't think his posting to the tiny little town was a step in the right direction for his career as his Prius passed a sign reading:
Welcome to Miser's Falls.
Population: 376
The greystone buildings and well tended gardens that he drove by were decidedly more gothic than other small towns he'd visited. Gargoyles loomed out from above the steps into the Town Hall and an unusually large graveyard dominated a rise in the east.
"In 100 metres, turn left," his GPS advised him cheerfully, "Your destination is on the right".
The place the newspaper had rented for him was a run down dump. Wrought iron fencing was tangled with a virulent growth of ivy that seemed equally intent on consuming the whole house. A sneering Cherub poured water into a fountain thick with moss and algae.
"Charming," he muttered to himself as he hauled his luggage out of the car.
"It certainly is!" a voice spoke up from behind him. Jotter cried out like a girl.
"Sorry," a woman's voice joined the first, "We didn't mean to startle you. We're your Welcome Wagon!"
The three people regarded him with amusement. A balding man in the blues of a police officer, a matronly woman with blue-grey hair up in a sensible bun, and a rotund man in a butcher's apron.
"Welcome to Miser's Falls," the fat man said with a grin, "You'll never want to leave".

Miser's Falls (Horror Mafia) is a mafia game with a difference. I'll explain those differences when we actually get started.
