I have a share in a first starter racing tomorrow in the first at Caulfield tomorrow called Starchine. He had an unofficial jump out last week and from all reports from the trainer and jockey (Mick Price and Nikolic) he was pretty impressive and both have a good opinion of him.

He opened up at $8 in the early markets Wednesday which only lasted about 20 mins apparently and now the best you can get is $2.50 atm and even shorter elsewhere. I don't know who backed it and brought it in that much but it sure as shit wasn't me :x Whoever it was must've seen the jump out and unloaded.

Anyway a race is a much different prospect than a trial and being a green 2yo first starter he could do any number of things wrong so you never know, but if he can knuckle down and do most things right he should be a good show. Either way at this stage tomorrow will be his only start this prep and will tip him while keep ticking him over and if all goes to plan will have a crack at the Magic Millions.

Cheers mate but i've had a lot more shit ones than average ones  We're just hoping he runs a nice race today and he'll be better for it, he tends to look around a bit and still learning the caper so we'll see how it goes. Any race is hard enough to win but when you're up against Moody, Snowden, Hayes, Hawkes and Patinack you can bet there'll be some smart types in that lot which makes it even harder.

Geez this caper shits me to tears sometimes  After the race Mick asked Nikolic "what the f**k happened there?" and he said he had no idea and when he asked him to go he just didn't like he did in the trial where he ran a quicker time than the actual race which is unheard of and just shouldn't/doesn't happen.

Anyway we took him off to get vetted and found he swapped a clod of dirt in the run which certainly didn't help but even so we we still disappointed. He's much better than that which he's shown and as Mick said just put it down to forgetting he ran around which happens sometimes.
