In this era of so much negativity and mocking and deriding we enjoy doing, when I read this, it just warmed the cockles of my heart and made me want to spread positivity.
The way the Papuans embraced these NRL players and are so excited about a trial (and not even a proper, full strength game) is beautiful to see. It makes you realise how great the NRL is, and if we don’t focus so much on the small percentage of negative things that happen around the game, instead focusing on all of the positives, it would be nice. Living a prosperous life in Australia, it’s easy to forget what a simple event like this can mean to a less fortunate nation.
Excellent work Bulldogs for organising it and Sharks for participating (would’ve been better if taking a near full strength team). Hopefully games in places like this only increase.
Perhaps this thread can be for other NRL good news stories?
