I know everybody in the world loves gasnier and i too think hes about the best attacking centre in the game but his defence is so poor. I really dont think he deserves to be an automatic selection when theres players like inglis, cooper, tate, hodges (if he isnt chosen at fullback) and most notibly matt king who absolutely destroyed gasnier last week.

5. Inglis - He has to be in the team, and of the 4 incumbent 3/4's, I think it'll be at the expense of Grothe.

6. Lockyer - he won't lose his spot.
7. Cronk - He will fill the void with as long as he doesn't duff the GF, otherwise Thurston.

8. Civenociva - he won't lose his spot.
9. Smith - injury in the GF is the only thing that will keep him out.
10. Bailey/O'Meley - they will not start with Price, no way in the world.
11. Hindmarsh - he won't lose his spot.
12. Mason - Form is brilliant right now .. is he encumbent - he won't lose his spot.
13. ?? I have no idea here.

Destroyed? A needled up Gaz ws still able to set up a try on King as King did to Gaz. Gaz & Lockyer are the only automatic selections in the backline.

IMO Cronk's selection all comes down to how desperate the selectors are to retain Thurston. If Thurston gets punted, and he has only played 1 game in 2-3 months, then Cronk gets a run at 7 with either Berrigan or Hornby on the bench.

If the selectors decide to retain Thurston either on the bench or starting 7, I just can't see another specialist No 7 in Cronk being selected. IMO if they select Thurston then Hornby will be selected, one at 7 and one on the bench.

It never was a question of Cronk's form, more about the makeup of the team if Thurston is there.
