Gav " You wanted a national comp, but were unwilling to pay the price, ie, fewer Sydney based clubs.
How the hell would international expansion be any better without SL? Isn't the lack of expansion largely the fault of the Aussies?"

if SL hadnt come along, we would have had 20 'national' teams. Some Sydney clubs would have merged (ala Brisbane/Fitzroy) or folded. The ARL would be the biggest comp (of any code) in Australia. We may (a bit pie in the sky) have become recognised globally as a rugby league nation, not a nation with 3 major football codes. almost like the US - NFL link. With the ARL not having to fight SL, hopefully (I wouldnt have been holding my breath though) there would have been money to look at international expansion of the game.

storm crowds are down basically because we are playing saturday arvo matches,i'd be more concerned if i was a saints or sharks supporter as they drew 7000,8000 respectively for sunday afternoon games, fancy having your own crowd boo you off at halftime, shame, shame, shame !!!!!!

the sharks have the personnel to make the top 5,give preston a run at number 7 and bob's your uncle, not to mention an extra 6-7000 through the gate,it must be hurting the sharks the drop in revenue plus noddy's huge contract fee.

mfc,i'm still confident my bet about them making the top 5 is on target

Hazy, you're living in cloud cuckoo land if you believe a strong ARL and domestic Aussie comp relates to global expansion. Most Aussies couldn't give a sh"t about international RL, some are even proud to admit it. You'd never get a British RL fan suffering from such a parhochial attitude.

The real shame is that Aussie SL didn't work. However, it did manage to wake you lot from your slumber for a short while.

I see that no-one has managed to answer Kier'spost: 'RLWC 2000 profits scuppered by ARL/NRL'. Wonder why.... embarrassment?

Can you pls. answer my question about Ribot trying to sell the Storm.
For a start, what attempt has he made so far?

PS : I do think you try and twist my posts around to suit your argument

Ribot put out the feelers late last year and again earlier this year to see if anyone was interested in buying up his share. It was common knowledge.
Sorry, I thought you knew.
Its no big deal. What you have isa franchise... quite different from a club.
imo, you're much better off without De Bresac.

Willow,
Who with???????
What's your source?

If you are talking about the approach from the Gold Coast Mayor and Singleton...well......he's knocked them back!

Ribot wants to keep the Storm here in Melbourne for as long as possible, forever, if possible.

Told the supporters on a bus trip with them last Sat.!!

.

we may have empty stands at the moment but so do many other clubs, win stadium looked pretty empty to me last night, are they pulling down that northern stadium or erecting it, they sure don't need it on what i have seen at woolongong this season.

these other teams also fall into the crap attendance category, eagles, sharks, panthers, dogs, wests, roosters, saints, souths(by season end)why not relocate all of them or dissolve them, that way we can have a four team comp !!!!!!!

Not surprising to read that from a Ribot disciple. You lot aretainted with the VISION disease and are in urgent need of amputation for the good of the game.

whats all this crap about suggesting all storm fans are ribot/johns ,i've been very critical of the storms management decisions over the past couple of years, particuarly the colonial move and match programing not to mention admission prices.
for the good of the game we need a team in melbourne,we can't turn our back on the southern states, afl had a shaky start in the northern states but the afl had a long term vision and financially looked after them, the nrl should do the same for melbourne, plus give an added 20% to there salary cap.

i'd like to see ribot/johns out,but the big question is if they go will news ltd still back us,if not the nrl needs to and with the right administration it could be very succesfull.

Well News has backed them haven't they so what are you complaining about? Furthermore Ribot got exactly what he wanted, a franchise in line with his vision. It was a his payout from News for dirty deeds so don't expect help, or sympathy, from anyone else. If you have problems re their future then go talk to Ribot, it's his bastard child not the NRL's.

Just the sort of reply I would expect from Just Me or Willow.!
They can't see past their nose and have no direction for the future or any idea at all, just bitterness.!

Go Storm and I hope at least we can survive and shortly there will be a team out of SA and WA too.

Take note NRL.

Blinkered Aussie vision. No wonder the NRL fails in it's effort to become the number one sport downunder, they obviously take note of such jaundiced Sydneycentric viewpoints.

I once thought northerners (Poms that is) were the most negative backward thinking RL fans.

Ah, and this judgement comes from someone with authority to judge such thingseh! As you have not offered an opinion of your own but haughtily passed judgement on mine am I to understand you do so based onthe success you have had in establishing RLas the number one sport in the UK? Such great achievement would indeed give you the knowledge, moral highgroundand right to judge theviews of others from 14,000 miles away without haveing to put forward your own opinion.

If, however, that is not the case then blow it out your arse you sanctimonious git.
