how many more SOO will Josh Reynolds play?

They could have easily selected Hodkinson and Maloney, or Hodkinson and Mullen. Both would give better attacking options than Reynolds while also giving away less stupid penalties.

All 3 are average defenders so it would be a push there.

Either way, with the backline NSW have now there is simply no excuse for us scoring so few points in a 3 game series. That is the least points we've scored in a very long time. The fact we managed to somehow win the series is nothing short of a miracle.

From memory Gus Gould talked up Reynolds as an origin player, IMO he has been rushed in before he was ready and had a poor game last night.
The ironic thing is the desire to pick Reynolds lead to them picking Hodkinson who was more impressive and is ready to play at that level.
For mine Hodko is a better bet than Pearce hands down .... if NSW want a better half they need to wait until one of the young blokes is ready. (.e. any one but Pearce).
Reynolds used to play hooker before Des moved him to the halves, obviously he does not have the defense to play hooker for long periods, but he is much more suited to that role in attack.
So he is still learning how to play in the halves and may improve.
At this stage of his career he is better suited to playing 14 for NSW.
So if it was up to me I would move Reynolds to the bench and pick a new 5/8 for NSW.
From what I have seen Mullen is a contender, but they may be others.

In last nights game NSW had little ball and QLD clearly won the forwards battle.
It is hard for the halves to impress, but Hodko defended well and threw the last pass for the only NSW try, so he deserves a pass mark.

He made 3 errors in the 2nd half gifting QLD attacking chances to win the game. The first led to Thaiday going over, the second Tupou saved us with a try saving tackle on Tate inches short of the line, and the third thankfully Gillett dropped it early in the count with QLD 30m out.

Click these links to see the f**k ups: first error, second error, and third error

In which decider did these events happen?

4 tries in 3 games. Far less points than any series that Pearce or Soward has been apart of. We won't win another series with attack like that.

If we are talking gifs, why not make one of Reynolds crabbing across field then throwing the ball to QLD 3 times, inside our own half, in a decider.

You should take the advice of your signature.

I'm really hopeful that the team does not stagnate on selections because we scraped a series win. There is a ton of room to improve

I wouldn't mind Hodkinson retaining incumbency but Josh Reynolds was diabolical

Problem is nobody really pushing a claim right now. Brooks is the heir apparent but his defence is even worse. Adam Reynolds needs a 180 in form. Keary could fly out of the gate but wants to play for QLD. Mullen will be overlooked as usual. Maloney needs a 180 in form too. Soward and Wallace should be in the picture

Adain Sezer could be a good 'un if he gets some decent coaching and stops getting injured.

I'm going to say it: John Sutton would have been a better selection than Josh Reynolds. Good defender, good runner, and sets up bags of tries for the Bunnies. Has really matured into a good 5/8 under Maguire. The only thing against him is his age.

I still think Mullen should have got the gig, and I hope he does get it next year. He'd combine well with Hodkinson.

We won the series despite our halves, not because of them.
Admittedly they did defend well in the first two games, but the attack from the both of them was atrocious - Hodko's try in Game 2 aside.

I don't care if we won. They don't deserve to be there next year. Reynolds especially. He's played 4 Origin games now and has been terrible in all of them. No skills. No vision. No creativity. Didn't even play to his best asset which is his running game.

NSW's halves should have been Mullen and Sutton. More creativity from Mullen. Better defence from Sutton.

You should re-watch the series and keep and eye on Hokko. He had some real good touches. This wasn't even a series were any half shined, including Thurston and DCE, but Hodkinson was solid.

Yeah, I think that's a bit harsh on Hodkinson.

I was against his selection. Hell, I still am. But he held his own, especially for a player who I don't think is particularly talented.

Hodkinson will play again but there's no way Reynolds will. There's a whole year for someone to hopefully step up.

Anyone bagging Mullen for his defense obviously hasn't watched him play over the last couple of years. He'd easily be one of the best defending halves in the nrl.

Jsh would best serve NSW coming off the bench, his impact during certain stages of the game would be far better than that of DCE for QLD.
