how many weeks for Kearey?

An accident is your hand brushing the tacklers face whilst tackling him.

Deliberate act is placing your fingers into someone's eye socket and applying pressure.

Time for the NRL to show some balls and rub out that grub for a very long time.

He should have been sent from the field immediately.

Not convinced it was a gouge but stupid to put your fingers in and around an opponents eye(s) so will probably receive some kind of minor contrary conduct charge.

4-6 weeks, probably because it wasn't that severe a result in the end (although getting poked in the eye accidently hurts like hell, let alone any massage of eyeball). Would've been happy to see him sent off though, no room for that shit in the game

You can't judge intent, but they don't try to.

They can just call it reckless, which is what it probably was.

I don't think he had a deliberate intent to gouge him, but he needed to we aware of what was happening, and pull out if things seemed to be going wrong.

The hand was around the face area, he may not have been aiming for the eye, but he may have been aiming for some sort of facial.

It it was intentional, I would say 10 weeks, possibly more, but they can't prove that.

If it was reckless I would say 2-3 weeks, which seems fair to me, that sends a warning to players that they need to keep their hands well away from an opponents eyes.

While he deserved to be sent off, I'm sort of glad he wasn't to save us from the 'we wuz robbed' whinging.

Lots of players get suspended for high tackles that are accidents...

Intent will only determine the severity of the suspension.

It was ugly and horrible look for the game. I don't think he intended to do it, but it happened.

I'd say 4 weeks max.

he'll miss the 9s and charity shield and all the pre-season b/s matches, he'll be back for round 1.

Steve Linnane got 20 weeks for his eye gouge on Greg Alexander. Should be that.

That piece of shit should have got the electric chair without a wet sponge.

Keary's action I don't think was malicious,but very careless.

The week suspension was about right.

But I think they should look a bit carefully in how they grade these albeit they are the rarest of charges that get reported.
