How to revitalize Monday Night Football

A lot of these ideas are well and good but the simple fact is if you're playing at suburban grounds, cheap tickets doesn't work.

Taking games to venues like Belmore, Brookie and Leichhardt generally sees the club run at a loss, therefore ticket prices need to be higher to avoid running too far into the red.

This is contrasted with the situation at Allianz and ANZ where they essentially make a profit whether 100 or 100000 are there.

I'll say it again,

There is NO logical reason to hate MNF.

What else is there to do and watch on a Monday night?
My kitchen rules? Please.

There is no choice of Afl or rugby so it's the only sport on the box at a time when there are no sports on.

As for a way to get attendances up, have 'magic Monday' wherein teams embrace the heritage era of the 70s 80s and 90s
Instead of heritage round let's have Monday aheritage game with a retro theme.
Old jerseys , old themed music and style (such as fururistic space letters etc) and of course old grounds.

I promise the fans will adore it

I may be slow at the moment but how is point 1 even possible. Mind you it is nearly 1am and I've been up for close to 24 hours. But we have 16 teams. How can they each play 1 Monday night game with a total of 16 Monday night games a season???

All your points also seem like flash wording without any actual ideas. As example making it an event. Most of it sounds like typical nrl fluff hahaha...no offence mate.

I personally think league fans are merkins that enjoy complaining about all sorts of shit. If the AFL can attract a crowd then why not us. The NFL has Monday night football and games sellout regardless of how shit the team is going. Plus there games conclude at nearly at midnight during their broadcast.

My idea...well I would say it won't be solved the Monday night crowd is typical crap compared to the other days, but in fairness our crowds across the rounds are quite similar. We need to fix them in general not just on Monday night games.

Our stadium infrastructure is terrible. The viewing within ANZ is crap and most of the larger stadiums are similar. Travel to these stadiums generally suck. The pricing is terrible and why would people spend so much for one game that is wrapped up in 90 minutes.

Our sport was made for television. We will always have these crowd figures.

Each club hosts 1 Monday Night game that the NRL would then buy off them to sell to venues across Australia that satisfy strategic needs, clubs get a payout rather than a loss for MNF, and with the NRL entirely responsible for it's success & with the incentive of collecting the gate, they are motivated to market it and create an event out of it.

It's by no means a guaranteed success, but it gets games to places it's not often played, hopefully improving attendance and marketing it to new areas, takes the financial burden of MNF off of clubs and leaves the majority of MNF intact for broadcasters.

I remember those days. It was fresh and exciting in 96. I remember that Roosters/Broncos game. Andrew Walker shape's to kick and then runs and sets up an awesome try. Andrew Gee makes a stupid mistake and gives the Roosters are penalty in front to win the game. Roosters all pat him on stupid scummy head.

Good times.

MNF is just garbage these days.

I recall hearing at the time that a punter won the FootyTAB Pick the Margins jackpot courtesy of that penalty which handed the Roosters the game! From memory the jackpot was around a million, maybe a touch over, so there's someone out there who no doubt loves stupid Andrew Gee and his scummy head!!

The poster meant 1 HOME game each per season = 16 games

The first 16 rounds would get MNF
With two bye rounds excluded

THEN for the last four rounds you have Thursday Night Football and no MNF

Rounds 19 and 20 have Friday, Saturday, Sunday football only
We'll call them the pre-shoulder charge ban rounds and teams must wear a kit based on a design from between 1998 and 2008

Oh and shoulder charges would be legal for these two rounds as would punching on

Let's see which games get the best crowds and the NRL can stick MNF up it's f**king arse

1. Have 3,000 talentless 6 year olds scoring width of the field tries at half time.

2. Mascot relay at half time.

3. At half time have obese drunks trying to catch bombs

The Fruit & Vege Rockettes - there's your answer.

Best answer is piss MNF off. It's only relevant for people who haven't realised that the weekend ends on Sunday.

It is not NRL's problem that TV producers can't create something else useful on a Monday.

http://m.canberratimes.com.au/sport...n-monday-night-next-year-20150701-gi2bqz.html

Queanbeyan City Council wants to bring the Canberra Raiders back to their spiritual*home, with mayor Tim Overall predicting they would get a "massive" crowd at Seiffert Oval for a Monday night game.

The QCC will have discussions with the NRL about what further upgrades would be required to Seiffert Oval to host a premiership game as early as next year.

The Raiders were encouraged by the strong support from the Queanbeyan community at this year's trial game, but are conscious the business plan must stack up before it goes ahead.

Play every Monday night at Belmore, that way League could be revitalised in the same way Boxing has
