How would I go about downloading and saving a video that's been streamlined?

There's a few videos that I've been trying to get a hold of and I've finally found them on youtube.com, but I have no way of saving them. Is there a way to do this?

yes there is...i posted this tutorial on the titians forum:

I will show you how to save videos from youtube.

You will have to download one thing tho for this to work. You will need to download Total video converter....OR another video file converter.

This program is FREE but is only a 15 day TRIAL. There are other free programs out there that do the same thing...you will have to find those yourself tho.

Download total video converter:
http://www.download.com/Total-Video-Converter/3000-2194_4-10520866.html?tag=lst-0-8

Once you have done that and installed it....its time to get to work!

We will be using this clip during the tutorial...it is Billy Slater being dunked in some water at the Storm fan day.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=IkdbZh-bNNg&search=melbourne storm

1. Select the video you want to save. Use the one above for this tutorial.

2. Cut or copy the URL which is in the address bar, in this case it is: http://youtube.com/watch?v=IkdbZh-bNNg&search=melbourne storm

3. Now go to this site: http://keepvid.com/

4. now paste the youtube video's URL in the bar at the top of Keepvid.com.

5. Next to that long bar there is a drop done menu...drop down and select 'Youtube'.

6. Now press download which is next to the drop down bar.

7. you should be here now:
youtube9ai.jpg

8. After pressing download there will be a loading spot just under the bar....it will say
loading....

After it has loaded it will say "download link", It tells you to right click and save target as...but if using firefox you will need to right click select properties and then copy the address and paste it in your internet browser.

9.when it has been pasted in the internet browser press enter. A save as box will pop up with the video which is titled "Get_video" if using firefox click 'save to disk..NOW READ THIS PART CAREFULLY, when you press save to disk your file box will appear...the file name is 'get_video' what you have to do is type in ".flv" after "get_video". So it will now look like this:

flv0qp.jpg

10. Make sure you take note of what folder it is in...then press save.

11. Now open up Total Video covnerter...which you downloaded at the start. it will ask you to register, if you want to pay to register then its up to you if not just press "i want to try it more". Now that TVC is open...click new task>then select import files. Now find the video file you saved...remember it will be named "get_video.flv".once you have found the video file double click it...a window will now open asking you what file you would like to convert it to...select MPEG, or whatever other file you prefer. Now click "convert now"

aaaaaaaa1uh.jpg

12. It will ask you if you want register agian...if you want to then go ahead if not press "i want to try more". After you do that it will then save the video in Mpeg format and save it in the C:\Program Files\Total Video Converter folder...then go to the converted folder and your video is in there!

also using the fire fox add-on: video downloader....

you can:

after installe dvideo downloader from firefox add-ons:

1. go to the youtube video that you want to save.

2. click the video downloader icon in the bottom right hand corner.

3. then the next window pops up with a "download link button"

4. press the download link button.

5. save as box will appear...then go to save to disk.

6. The file is still "get_video" you will need to do what i said in the other tutorial and add ".flv" to the end of it. Then save it in a folder.

7. You will need to get a video file converter...or a .flv converter. I posted a link to a free trial program on top of the page.

8. using the video file covnerter, convert the get_video.flv file into a video file such as Mpeg or AVI.

then your done.

I use WMRecorder, but those are good tutorials/programs listed above.

Since everyone brushed me, i've been stuffing around for the last 2 days with different programs off the net and have found one thats farkin awesome which i'll share with everyone :D
As Shadow started off earlier go to www.keepvid and paste in your file. Download and save as .flv file
Download and save onto your computer the SUPER converter at http://www.erightsoft.com/S7f01.html
its free and is 25MB. (Skip all the waffle on the page of the link and just hit download down the bottom)
When you have it downloaded select what you want to convert the file to mpeg4 etc and then download the subject file from where you've saved it on your PC. Voila its converted and saved.
