Hi, since I moved over to Australia I’ve some what fell in love with the game (mainly due to the awful soccer/football over here) :joy: Now I’m looking at playing the sport. I’m still getting used to the game and can’t seem to find a web page that gives me any answers!! How does the amateur leagues work? Is there different levels ect?

I’m based in Manly.

Any help would be appreciated, please no smart comments :joy:

You're probably best off getting into touch football or Oz tag first mate, just to get your head around the rules and flow of the game.

Have you played a contact sport before?

If you decide to play request extra focus on tackling technique.

Oztag is also awesome and has a broad range of people playing

League Tag, Oz Tag and Touch Rugby league are purposely rules based on RL but no affiliation to the NRL.

The only affiliated comps are ITF Touch Football and Rugby League Tag (basically full size RL field but with tags).

All styles develop from RL but under different autopcies.

Maybe try one of them before playing full contact RL

So there are affiliated comps in Leaguetag and touch football. It would be wise for the Rugby league to make sure Oztag is affiliated also. Touch football needs to revert to its original play the ball with foot rule!
