STRENGTHS: The Lions still possess a strong core of experienced players, and while most of these are midfielders, their balance across the park is generally quite sound. For a side that has spent so much time in the top 8 they do appear to have a solid core of youth that is of a reasonable quality. Outside of these elements, the club also has what pretty much all other clubs want (a Jonathan Brown @ CHF) and a massive home ground advantage.

WEAKNESSES: The Lions have always lacked legspeed, but it never really hurt them when the side was at the peak of its powers. The side has dropped both talent and intensity over the past 12-18 months, however, and accordingly look a bit more vulnerable due to lack of pace. While their youngsters don't look too bad, they are still being asked to step-up and (gradually) replace players of sensational quality. As much as anything, the side no longer seems to have the hunger required to be a genuine challenger.

PREDICTION: Could really finish anywhere between 5th and 12th...

Brisbane - 9th

Too old, too slow as I said at the beginning of the season....they'll be lucky to lose by 50 points against West Coast this weekend! Not gloating meltiger but amigo I think your team the Tigers proves my point this season, Lions are gorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrn for 2006!

Tend to agree now.

Very poor against Richmond on Sat night.

Scary prospect for them this week, WC used to flog them in Brisbane even when they were winning premierships.

They're in serious trouble.

Too many of their high profile players are existing on reputation rather than form; and there are a good many sides waiting for them in the long grass. They gave some sides short shrift over their glory years (as you should when you're on the top of your game), but memories are long and payback can be a bitch.
