I used to love Beaumont Street for similar reasons, but never lived particularly close.

Merewether was good and close to Darby Street, Waratah was a black hole, and Valentine (while lovely) was even worse for food.

Three steps on Bondi Rd makes the burgers the old fashioned way on the grill with onions and beetroot, pineapple and/or egg if you want them. After that Hungry Jacks, some daylight, Maccas, lots of daylight then KFC.
