bad news for the bush haters

Respondents also disagreed widely on who is to blame for the problems in the city following the hurricane -- 13 percent said Bush, 18 percent said federal agencies, 25 percent blamed state or local officials and 38 percent said no one is to blame. And 63 percent said they do not believe anyone at federal agencies responsible for handling emergencies should be fired as a result.

Why did you leave out this bit?

Opinions varied widely, however, on the response of federal, state and local officials regarding Katrina. Forty-two percent of respondents characterized President Bush's response to the disaster as "bad" or "terrible," while 35 percent said it was "good" or "great."

Federal government agencies' response was described as "bad" or "terrible" by 42 percent, and "good" or "great" by 35 percent. State and local officials' response was described as "bad" or "terrible" by 35 percent and "good" or "great" by 37 percent.

i posted the source mong

seems the majority of people arent blaming bush after all mong

you have to ask yourself a question here mong

why havent more intelligent lefties like tighty and bazza not jumped on the "its bushes fault" bandwagon?

is it because they are a bit more cautious than you in terms of waiting for some actual information and not jumping to conclusions based on paraphrasing, sensationalist journalism and lefty opinion peices?

Well the poll was only of 609 people.. hardly a reliable source for anything.

Maybe you should ask them not me...

lets post the text that you snipped

Sept. 4, 2005 — Americans are broadly critical of government preparedness in the Hurricane Katrina disaster — but far fewer take George W. Bush personally to task for the problems

HURRICANE Katrina has blown up a storm in the US Congress with Democrats piling the pressure on President George W. Bush's administration over the handling of the catastrophe.

With one inquiry already launched by the Senate Homeland Security Committee, the chamber's Health Committee was to wade into the debate today with a hearing on how to rebuild the communities devastated by last week's storm, feared to have left thousands dead.

Democrats are demanding an independent inquiry into the government response to the Gulf Coast storm and have started a petition seeking the sacking of the much-criticised head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Michael Brown.

I hope the democrats allow this to happen instead of wasting time and energy trying to score more political points. They shouldn't be wasting time and effort on further enquiries until the more pressing issues are out of the way.

wiser heads in the dems realise they at state and local level arent going to come out of this very rosy and are trying to hose things down

the democrat mayor who ignored advice for mandatory evacuation because they wanted more time is doomed as is the governor who didnt want to relinquish control to the feds

interesting times ahead

BBC Announce: Now I'm sure you're aware of the criticism that the authorities have been slow to respond to this. When did you get the order to start relief work?

Leftenant Commander Sean Kelly:
NorthCom started planning before the storm even hit . . . we were ready for the storm when it hit Florida because, as you remember, it crossed the bottom part of Florida, and then we were plaining, you know, once it was pointed towards the Gulf Coast . . . so what we did was we activated what we call "defense coordinating officers" to work with the state to say okay, what do you think you'll need, and we set up staging bases that could be started . . . we had the USS Baton sailing almost behind the hurricane so that after the hurricane made landfall, its search and rescue helicopters would be available almost immediately . . . so we had things ready . . . the only caveat is, we have to wait until the President authorizes us to do so. . . the laws of the United States say that the military can't just act in this fashion, we have to wait for the President to give us permission.

I can't view the clip at work. Is it known how long it took for the authorisation to come through?
