Hybrid touch tackle footy

I am working on a hybrid game of "touch tackle" the progress of which I will log here over the next few weeks.
Essentially it is touch footy but there is one player on each team who can run and needs to be tackled provided they are running from DH and there is a designated defender on each team who can stand anywhere (on the defensive side of the advantage line) who can tackle him and that designated defender's job really is to mark that runner out of the game. Also bring kicking in with certain rules.
I acknowledge I have utterly lost my mind.

Still sounds better than R360.

Sounds like it needs two pairs of fluoro-coloured shorts (different colours) for each team, to identify their designated player that needs to be tackled and their designated tackler?

What if they made it you can tackle anyone with or without the ball. That would be wild to watch.

The logic is that touch footy is such a great asset of rugby league except that there is a considerable disconnect between Touch and NRL. I would say most NRL fans find touch boring to watch (even that touch NRL comp they had a few years ago). One boring thing about touch is those play the balls and just sprinting for a quick easy gain of 5 to 10 m (same as league but for the collision). But touch has some seriously sick passing skills.

Eels best touch footy starting 7:
Moses (ball skills)
Iongi (nimble)
Ryley Smith (fit merkin)
Fox (fast MF)
Joash (nimble)
TBA (maybe Talataini, I don't know much about him, but he sounds fast).
TBA (likely Dylan Walker).

This is a very solid 7.

"The nimble" should be a position name in touch.

@hineyrulz is good at a hybrid touch from about 200m out.

Russell or Simonssen would probably be worth having in a squad of 10.

How about our worst touch starting 7? Mainly based on size and relative immobility...

Paulo
De Belin
Hopgood
Matterson (would run up and back a lot, but wouldn't have a dig)
W Penisini (rocks or diamonds, Waqa Blake style)
Da Silva (bit of a goober so far imo)

Touch is a good thing to play when your young but I know a good few ex players mostly from Union and they find it tough work cardio wise and most tactics is to get the fattest, slowest player on the defending side to get him off side and reminds me of Netball for some strange reason.

I'd be surprised if Touch Footy was not included in the Brisbane olympics. The NRL should be trying to think of how to get it in and make NRL / RL the winner of that.
