Hysteria

Just turned on Foxtel and there's an episode of Classic Albums on Def Leppard's Hysteria.

Brought back some brilliant memories.

It's a bit outdated and even cheesy at times but I'd be hard pressed to name 10 albums that were essentially perfection - not a bad song on them. Not even a song that makes you think "Great album but this track isn't quite as good as the others".

Hysteria is one of those very, very, very rare "perfect" albums.

That is all.

Cant argue with that.

I do find it cheesy, listening to it these days. Its a great driving album though, if ya going on a bit of a road trip, its a good album for it.

This from the man who considers Nirvana and Jet to be good.

ahaha

Jet? did I say that?

I don't think so.

I liked Nirvana because they were good....Nevermind is a classic album.

I am more your Aussie rock n roll type.
You Am i , Oils , Beasts etc.

Def Leppard on the other hand are god awful and I would expect more from you.
In fact I would expect this sort of thing from Ron Jeremy and Ron Jeremy only.
Speaking of which ...he has been quiet lately .
A little birdie told me he has been a naughty boy.

Their is always an odd dud song, just look at Midnight Oil & You am I, they made a career out of it.

Their image was tacky, yes, but Steve Clark was a very, very good guitarist.

As far as musicianship goes, other than Steve, they weren't stunning, but geez they had some classic tracks and Hysteria really was brilliant.

Nirvana - well they were just bad musicians fullstop. If Def Leppard are "God awful", Nirvana are a poor son, perhaps "Jesus awful".

def leppard = sterile, over produced c**k rock by numbers.

Surely when the drummer loses an arm it is time to hang up the stick.

Love Bites ....hahahhaahahahahaaha what a load of pussy whipped dribble.

Given that most of Hysteria was already recorded when he lost his arm, I fail to see your point.

Dave Grohl = absolutely woeful drummer.

So your saying that Hysteria is that bad even with a two arm drummer?

Geez

Well that changes everything.....I used to feel sorry for them.

I find it quite odd that you would rate such a ''sell out '' of a band Dev.
I respect your taste in some of the darker sides of music ...but this is just plain weird.

Def Leppard?

They are a pair of spandex away from being poison.

What's wrong with spandex? just as a bad as a band using politics and world events in order to sell some albums, now that's a sell out;-)

Def Leppard weren't my favourite band, nor did I ever learn to play any of their stuff, however Hysteria is a great, easy listening, cruise album regardless if it was cheesy.

Mate I grew up on that stuff. My four bands as a young teen were Van Halen, Def Leppard, Aerosmith and AC/DC.

Now, I'll never proclaim Leppard to be the greatest band of all time or even particulary good musicians (Clark aside). But they wrote some great tracks and Hysteria and Pyromania were superb. Adrenalize was pretty decent too.

Over-produced? Absolutely.

Spandex? Yep, not that that matters.

But they'e not sell-outs. They did what they did and never strayed.

Metallica - that's what you call a sell-out
