what happened to luke burt guys :?

he used to be one of my fave players, now it's like he is minus a player. i saw him have like 1 or 2 touches the whole game. he didn't support anyone, ran sideways and had some poor d.

anyone agree ?

Don't worry.

The whole team, barring a few individuals, have been like that lately.

I am not criticising. But that's the way it is.

I don't know what it is. Maybe Jamie's departure has left a massive void in the players' hearts?

I don't know. But some great players (Burt, Vella, Wagon, etc.) are playing without motivation.

I think we cannot underestimate the "Jamie Lyon factor" and what it has done to the team and the coaching staff as a whole this season.

We still can't be sure of the full story (whatever that may be), and I have a feeling that something there has struck at the core of the confidence within our club.

If he didn't even talk to his former teammates before heading to Wee Waa, then maybe they're all in the dark as much as us? Maybe they all need some major therapy sessions to help get back in the game??

Once the team stands up and performs then the outside backs will be performing better. Once (if) the forwards start setting the platform then Burt will be given more options and space.

Don't worry.

Once he gets confident, gets some space and gets some quality ball (and with the likes of Morris, Dykes, Witt and Thorman all fit and confident, that won't be an issue), he'll beback to his best.

Yes, Misty.

But (no offence to Micky V), isn't Vella the same PROP who got steamrolled by WINGER Moodie?

And Moodie is by no means Grothe or Utai.

Disagree re Vella. He's putting in. Remember the kick chases?

Leave that to the wingers. Vella should be focusing on getting the ball forward and coming up with some big hits on defence.

If he wants to chase kicks put him on the wing. As a forward leader he should be making as many if not more metres than Hindy.

Vella got 'steamrolled' after the rest had given up, and been steamrolled themselves.

And re the kick chase criticism, I can't believe you would rather NO ONE chased the kicks. Vella at least was trying to do the right thing, unless you are all happy that no one tries and we consistantly get flogged!

Never said anything about him wanting to chase kicks. Again you like to twist words. I said that if that is what he wants to do go out to the wing. I would however like to see him stop being a wuss and run the ball at the opposition like I know the bloke can. He can chase all the kicks he wants to if he does the main job he is supposed to do.

And yes, he did get steamrolled - by a winger nonetheless.

Well lyon played in the first game against the dogs when the eels got smashed. I think it is a hangover from the loss of 01'

Yeah Bib, good point. 2001 as a factor I think is still in the hearts of the senior players that were there, and probably the coach too. I don't think it has been exorcised/remedied in any way, and maybe they need some therapy sessions on that too!

It was clear from Jamie's very poor display against the Dogs in Round 1 that something was up in his game. He was basically not there in that game, and it wasn't long after that he packed up and left.

Nice contradiction there Colonel. But it's just me twisting your words, right?

OK.

As I said if he wants to chase kicks put him on the wing. As a forward leader he should be doing the job as a forward leader because if he gets an A for effort for just chasing kicks then he might as well be on the wing.

I know he can play for Australia as a front rower, same as you do. The guy can play above and beyond what he has done over the past few seasons because he did it once before. He can chase as many kicks as he wants but it still doesn't make his effort of last week any better than anyone else.

It's DISCIPLINE and FITNESS !!!!

We might've bought BIG and BAD but we ALSO BOUGHT INDISCIPLINE!!!

We give away more penalties than any other team.

If I was a player like Hindy and Wagon and tackled my guts out and on the fourth or fifth tackle one of our blokes gives away a penalty for something stupid. Wouldn't you feel frustrated?? Okay for once or twice but consistently giving away penalties would drive me nuts! And for those who doesn't have the Pride like Hindy, they slow down and slowly give up and become lazy.

We are always offside coz we are unfit too.

One good thing that came out of the game was seeing HINDY's FEND return. He started pushing players off on Sunday.....
